"This is Penryn Young, Daughter of Man, Killer of Angels."

I can't believe I've finished this trilogy. It's so beautiful and heartwarming and AHHHH I ALREADY MISS PENRYN AND RAFFE. This action-and-emotion-packed conclusion to the Penryn & the End of Days trilogy gave me this hollow feeling after reading the final chapter in a story that I have grown to love. I would give anything to get even just a short story, an epilogue to the epilogue, a peek at Penryn and Raffe's life a few years after. This was such a thrilling as well as an emotional read. Thank you, Susan Ee, for writing such an out of this world (literally and figuratively) trilogy.

I am very pleased with how this series came to an end. I feel like everything wrapped up nicely and i left the book feeling satisfied. As with the first two books I really enjoyed this book. This series is just so much fun overall, I would recommend this series to just about everybody. This book did have one downfall though, the beginning just wasn't as exciting as the other, it was just kind of their and not much seemed to be going all.
All in all I loved this series and I'm sad to see that its over.

I will admit, I forced myself to read this book after the second book fell well short of expectations. This book however, is better than World After. Just a quick note, this series was supposed to consist of 5 books instead of 3 and after reading, it definitely felt like 5 books would have been better.

Let's start with the good parts, well at least the plot is not driven by Paige disappearing/getting kidnapped again. The main characters get to go to Hell (yes actual Hell) and meet some interesting characters from Raffe's past that I wish was more in-depth. Lastly, the series ended, Thank god the series ended because I could not read anymore of this series if it continued.

Now the bad, well the book is rushed to oblivion. The most interesting part of the book (when they are in Hell) is not anywhere near long enough and could've /should've been an entire book alone. Raffe and Penryn get together in the end (sarcastic "yay") which feels extremely forced. The climax of the book was absolutely awful, one of the weakest parts of the entire series. Penryn is painfully generic and annoying at this point and could not care less about her. Finally, the ending is so abrupt and leaves so many questions not just about the worldbuilding but a majority of the characters.

This series can be explained as:
Angelfall: started off strong and looked to have so much potential
World After: ran around circles for a bit before getting the crap beat out of it and thrown in a ditch to bleed out.
End of Days: Took the corpse out of the ditch and paraded around showing the potential but only being the husk of a dead series.

in short, the series started with a bang and ended with a whimper.

I love these characters and this world so much that I knew without a doubt before reading this that I would still rate this book highly no matter how inferior it may come out. (Well, aren't I the optimistic one?!) And it isn't even in the least bit inferior. This last installment definitely makes up for the lack of action in the second book. Plus, we get more Raffryn moments. Although I still wish there were a lot more--there will always not be enough Raffryn moments for me--it's the apocalypse, people! (Even though it's a fake one.)

The direction that End of Days has taken was very different from what I was expecting so I actually thought I would end up rating it with only four stars (or lower). But then I would remember all those scenes and chapters especially those near the end of the book that moved my heart so much and even caused me to tear up a bit because even though the people are losing hope, we have Penryn, Raffe and all these other characters who would do anything to keep the last dregs of humanity intact. Those scenes spoke to me and they felt real--like I was a part of the World After too.

In Tweedledee's words, "If we ever loved anything more than this, we must have called her Mommy." Yep. Truer words have never been spoken.

BTW, THAT ENDING? IT'S NOT ENOUGH!!!!!!

Note: I may be a bit biased with my rating. DON'T JUDGE ME!!

I wanted so badly for this to reach 5 stars.

This book felt longer than it was because it was such a satisfying amount of action. Beliel’s arc was fantastic and heartbreaking. Penryn finally realized her potential. I was worried that Raffe’s character would be sullied but I’m glad that didn’t happen.

The few issues I had were with details in the end.

The change of mind was sudden and shallow. After all this time preparing for goodbye, suddenly everything is fine and dandy. This shift should have been prepared a bit better. I also really wanted Uriel’s wings to be sacrificed instead of Raffe’s…they’re RIGHT THERE. Raffe has already been removed and reassembled a few times by now so why couldn’t that be sufficient as imperfection? Or maybe Gabriel was making up his own rules all along? I suspect this would have been fleshed out better if the series had been the original 5 intended books instead of 3…maybe if book 2 had been used to prepare this better, I would have ultimately been more satisfied.

Regardless of my wishes, I was still drawn in the entire time I read this book, and the series as a whole. Sometimes I wished for Penryn to be a few years older since Raffe is so experienced, but I guess being YA it was intended for younger audiences. At 17 I think Penryn’s desires and responses to Raffe were age-realistic, but reading this book outside of young-adulthood myself made the almost-sex scenes a tiny bit uncomfortable. Selfishly, I would have preferred her to be 20 and have them just go for it. LOL.

Small issues aside, this series was a great read and I’m thankful for it. It has helped me get excited about reading again and I and indebted for that.

4.5 stars.

A thrilling ending to a thrilling trilogy. This trilogy was a roller coaster of emotions. I didn't know that I'd enjoy it this much and now I'm regretting not reading it sooner. I loved the protagonist and all the characters, and I applaud the author for writing such an amazing, fast-paced plot. The writing made me want to keep reading more. This is the only angel book that I've enjoyed so far that wasn't full of clichés and stereotypes.

Fast-paced, thrilling, and unputdownable, this is definitely a must read.

TDR: ITS ALL TOO SHORT :,((

Gosh I finished this serious in two days, sacrificing precious sleep. Was it worth it? Honestly, yes! It’s been a while since a plot and world encouraged me to read through the whole series, and like others have said, Ee has crafted a potentially amazing post-apocalyptic world in her first book. And had perfect cliffhangers that immediately had me buying the next installment.

But honestly, It’s just sad to see it end so fast.

I feel like the second book and especially, ESPECIALLY, the third book were short and rushed.
She ends the trilogy in finale that lacks genuine satisfaction. There’s still so much about the world and so many things to do that we are left unknowing. And the third book climax definitely could’ve been fleshed out more. Everything seemed rushed, but not in the good urgent way that the first book was, this time with more plot holes and less realism.

Don’t get me wrong, I really did love the characters and am satiated by the reads in general.
But it saddens me to see that this world had so much more potential. The characters had so much more potential.
And hearing that the series was supposed to be 6 books long is heartbreaking because I KNOW it would’ve been reallll good.

Good bye to Penryn and Raffe :,) they honestly could’ve been more amazing if the series had gone longer.

I do recommend reading thru! It’s was a short but nevertheless thrilling ride!

+SPOILER below!+

I wish we new more about the angels, the world they came from, and why the heck they even there on earth?! I feel like all of these mysteries were mentioned multiple times throughout the book but never answered :(

:,) also, I was thinking of raffe’s immortality and tendency for loneliness and it made me sad thinking penryn will age and die one day :( but since the ending never said anything about their future I will write it in my mind they do age and die together and live eternal life in heaven

This book delivers an action packed conclusion to the End of Days series. I enjoyed so many elements, but I was especially fond of how Penryn comes into her own. I'm not a Raffe fan. Of all the angels he seems the best of a bad lot, but I like that Susan Ee never suggests he's good. I like that Susan Ee challenges humanity's "goodness" and our general sense of who/what has value. There are many characters who are necessary to Penryn's success who hold some measure of evil in them and if forces a reader to decide what they accept in their own life.

This is my favorite series I read this year and I hope to read more books with this complex complacent shaking darkness.
