Gracie is a jewelry designer for a jeweler in New York City. Quinn is the nephew of the well-to-do widow, Mrs. Katsaros, who recently had a ring custom made. that was discovered to be a forgery not long after it was made by Gracie. With a friend in the FBI the three set out to determine when and how the forgery was made. From NYC to Venice to a cruise ship bound for Greece, there is adventure, mystery, and romance.
Sian Ann Bessey does a wonderful job of describing the areas that the characters go through, as well as several things a jeweler/jewelry designer would look for and experience as they go through their work. I have read several of Bessey's books and have enjoyed all of them.
The Gem Thief is appropriate for about 16 years and older, depending on the maturity of the individual. This is a fun and relaxing read, especially if you're looking for something outside of the ordinary.

The Gem Thief by Sian Ann Bessey is a contemporary romantic suspense novel with a fake relationship/ forced proximity trope.

Gracie is a jewelry designer for a high end company in New York. When one of their top customers, Dorcas, comes in and discovers her jewelry is being swapped out for fakes, Gracie is recruited to help find the stolen pieces. Little does she know the plan to find the missing gems involves faking an engagement on a romantic cruise through the Mediterranean with Dorcas’ nephew Quinn.

I throughly enjoyed this book! I loved reading about the Mediterranean cruise and the excursions in Italy and Greece. I found the plot to be interesting and unpredictable and thought there was a good balance between the suspense and the romance.

I really enjoyed seeing Gracie and Quinn get to know each other. Despite their fake relationship, none of their interactions felt forced or awkward. They get along really well and didn’t have to do a whole of pretending to convince people they were a happy couple. Then again it probably helps when you continually find yourself in very romantic situations. Overall I like how Quinn and Gracie just naturally get along and enjoy each other’s company!

If you enjoy romantic suspense, exotic locations, swoony kisses in the moonlight, and sweet clean romance you should definitely read The Gem Thief!

Man, I really loved this book! I got it because it was free and I have loved reading books by Sian Ann Bessey. I had no idea what it was about and I am so glad I read it! It was a good break from the usual regency era novels I read. It will definitely be added to my read again someday pile.

Enh. It was ok. I finished it. But seemed a bit trite and shallow.

Fun romantic suspense novel

This was such an entertaining read! I hadn’t read anything by Sian Ann Bessey before this book and I am pretty sure I’ll be reading more of hers in the near future. The romance was there, the action was enticing, and I loved the mystery behind this story’s jewelry heist.

Gracie was a refreshing character who sees the best in people and just wants to be helpful. She literally gave up so much just to help Dorcas discover what happened to her missing jewelry. I appreciated the building romance between Quinn and Gracie because it seemed natural and I did not have to shake the book and get after Quinn for being too stupid, like I have to do with some books.

Gracie was a small town girl who worked her way to being a jewelry designer in New York. A client, Dorothy, comes and has Gracie look at the pink diamond ring she had designed, and Gracie realizes the ring is a fake, a replica. She then goes on a Mediterranean cruise with Dorothy and her handsome nephew, Quinn, to try to figure out who is switching her jewelry, how and why.

This book was so good! Gracie is so smart and self assured, she is a strong female character who I wish i was like! All the scenes and descriptions of the Mediterranean made me want to book a trip there right now! Quinn and Gracie are tasked with pretending to be engaged on the cruise so it's pretty predictable what is going to happen between them. But don't worry- the resolution of who is switching the jewelry totally surprised me!

I love a good clean romance story, and when you throw in amaziing travel and a mystery, I'm all for it! Definitely recommend this to anyone and everyone!

I wasn't sure exactly what to expect when I bought this in audio format. It sounded good though, and it included gems, which is an interest of mine so I thought I'd try it. I'm glad I did - I really enjoyed this story!

There were several themes in this story that connected for me. First and foremost, the characters were quirky and charming and very likable. Gracie in particular really struck a chord with me. I loved her spunk and determination as well as her kindness.

Quinn was the perfect leading man: strong, honourable and sexy, but needing a woman to help him open up.

And Dorcas was just a hoot! The epitome of the busybody aunt who organizes everyone around her's lives without them even realizing it.

The settings of New York [always a fave book locale for me] and the Mediterranean on the cruise made for fun living vicariously by the reader. The author does a great job of making you feel like you are on the cruise too so that was fun.

The investigation about the replaced jewels was a neat plot point and I enjoyed that.

Overall this was just a fun, light easy-reading enjoyable story.

Format note: the narrator of this was excellent doing a great job of voicing each character with a unique voice and personality. If you like audio books this is a good one to listen to.
