After reading the Nick Chronicles it is neat to go back and read the original series since there are so many references and characters about the Dark Hunters in the Chronicles. These books are just good fun to read.
Digan almas gemelas y me ganan por completo. Talon es un personaje tremendo y Sunshine también lo es. Amé su relación y el libro tiene escenas muy divertidas...
Second reading review. Wow I had forgotten how much happened in this book. We are introduced to Styxx in this book and get to see just how much of an arrogant asshole he is, I have no idea how Kenyon is going to turn him around and make a hero out of him for her most current release. We also get to meet some of the leads for the next few books. What really blows my mind away is how many clues are in this book for the greater story arc that carries throughout most of her books and kind of cumilates in Ash's story. She must have had most of this world mapped out way before she even started the first book. There are so many pieces to find that I am going to read them all, including the short stories and the one book I really didn't care for 'Time Untime' just so I don't miss a single detail. Reading them all in a row really isn't like reading 20 some odd different books, but instead is like reading one long epic journey into a world I love.
Talon and Sunshine were great. Such heartache between these two soulmates. Sunshine is different from some of the other female leads and was a refreshing change and fun to follow. One quick short story and then on to Zarek's story. He is another make lead whose past just breaks my heart.

I almost don’t want to read the next book in this series because this one was so good! I simply cannot fathom how it could possibly get any better, but knowing Sherrilyn Kenyon - it will.
Night Embrace is definitely a lot more hot and heavy in the physical romance department than Night Pleasures. Despite the ample amount of intimate moments, each one was uniquely provocative and arousing. Guys, if you’re looking for a guidebook on how to please a woman, forget the karma sutra - pick up Night Embrace instead! It’s got a lot more action in it too!
What makes this such an incredible novel is that the passion is just that, passion. It’s not simply fluffy, horny lust. Sherrilyn Kenyon is a master at crafting deep relationships between her characters that bind them together for life. That’s something I believe is missing in the modern era of our picture perfect, social media centric lives. I also admire the complexity she achieves in her plots. This book hints at things I know will be explored in later novels and the way she introduces them makes me eager to keep reading. Honestly, everything about this book make it hard to put it down.
There were two things that made me mad about the book though. One, every man in this book is insanely gorgeous, and way too flirtatious. My main problem with that isn’t that it’s a bad thing - my problem is that it’s not real life. Can I just live in one of her books? But, without the crazy powerful people trying to ruin my life and kill everyone I care about. The second thing that upset me is that she made me care so much about these characters that I literally cried when things got intense. I had to stop reading for a moment because I was shaking and couldn’t see the page through the tears because my heart was breaking. That being said... I LOVE this book, and it may wind up being my all time favorite Sherrilyn Kenyon book. I have to finish the series first before I know that for sure though.
Also, it’s hilarious. I lost track of how many times I randomly burst out laughing at the most unexpected points in the book.

The main romance in this book is okay, but I am really enjoying the world Kenyon's building up. She's giving hints of a larger back-story for her side characters, which I'm looking forward to learning about.
I am going on a binge read of this series, so please forgive me if there are only ratings and no review for now :)
I love this series!!!!! The characters, the plot, the romance.... everything!! Ev-er-y-thing!!!!
This is Talon's book and I love him! I love Kyrian too, from the last book, but I think Talon trumps him. I love his tech-savvy-ness and his wit :) Talon can be down right funny.
Now throw Sunshine into this. She is definitely my favorite female lead so far. She is so just... out there! She's forgetful (much like myself) and is just amazingly passionate, caring and funny! I really connected with her very well.
Now put the two together and we have my new favorite Dark-Hunter couple!! I really love how they annoy each other throughout the book. One of my favorite quotes from the book, that I think sums up Talon and Sunshine's relationship: "...without pain you can't have joy. It's balance that makes us appreciate the extremes." Talon and Sunshine, like Amanda and Kyrian, are opposites and I love that in romances. Talon is Mr. Cool-Calm-and Collected, while Sunshine is the over-expressive and wild artist. I came into the book wanting to see how the two would come together and I wasn't disappointed.
The ending was amazingly cute and pleasantly surprising. I'm overly excited to say that I didn't see the ending coming at all. This is something I like with these books, is that I don't read them just to see how the couple gets together, but to see what happens with the plot and how they can overcome their weaknesses.
My only drawback with this book, which keeps it as a 4.5 instead of a 5, is I feel that Talon and Sunshine got together too quick and the sex started a lot faster than I thought it would. I understood it a bit because Talon had a lot of one-night stands before but I have a personal thing about sex right off the bat (like by page 60....)
Aside from that, everything was fabulous! I seriously don't know how I forgot about this series but I'm so happy I rediscovered it! Sherrilyn Kenyon is a master and it's definitely not your typical vampire romance.

Loved it !!!! especially since i love the whole soul mate business

So, I had heard that the series gets better as it progresses, but unfortunately, I didn't see that in this book. It felt like a recycled story of the first one. Same descriptive words, same basic storyline. I do find the overall story interesting. I think this world of the gods mixing in with vampires and werewolves (at least Kenyon's version of them) is a unique take on the usual supernatural stuff. I'm interested in the character Archeron and what his story is. However, I don't think I can sit through each individual story just to find out more about this world or this character. It's so cheesy and boring when nothing changes except the main characters. The sex scenes and their reactions to each other felt exactly the same as the first book (i.e. burning, moaning, hissing). This particular book's story about Sunshine being the reincarnated soul of Talon's wife was just... ugh... Then she has a part in the dialogue about how her biggest fear is something happening to her hands so that she can't create any more... like burning them. Seriously. We already know she will have to burn her hand with the soul medallion so that just felt stupid to mention it a chapter or two before. Then as he's dying he says "No Sunshine.. not your hands!" Hello... just use the hand you don't paint/draw with! And then Talon just takes the burn away anyway with his healing powers! So she didn't really sacrifice anything! Why couldn't she paint/draw with a burn on her hand? It's not like it won't heal. She's not a musician... or a hand model! Then there's the whole "only a few Dark Hunters have every successfully gotten their souls back" in THOUSANDS of years! But I'm guessing that in each book in this series a Dark Hunter is going to be getting their soul back... all in this one city... all in the same group of friends. It just feels too unbelievable. Which is too bad because I like the overall premise of the story. Sorry... rant over. Honestly, I could go on and on, but I'll stop.
This is definitely not a series I'd be able to binge read cause it would make me crazy. I might be able to do it if I read one every few months or so. I'm not sure if I will be at this point. I'll just have to see if the mood strikes me sometime in the future. I think I probably like the type of paranormal/urban fantasy that follows the same character throughout the books instead of a different couple each book. It just feels too rushed and insta-love for each individual book. You also don't get a lot of time for character development.
