Lovely voice of the beloved doctor. Great book to give simple information with a simple breakdown of complex information.

A really interesting read and one that I’ll probably want to pick up again! Michael Mosley has a wonderful way of presenting evidence factually but simply enough for the ordinary reader to understand. Reading this alongside Ultra Processed People I do wonder how many of the benefits of the “Med diet” that is so lauded here are actually the result of cutting out ultra processed foods. Ultimately I found this book to be motivating and positive, which is honestly not what I expected from a diet book at all

Too much repetitions, but very informative.

Some very practical and interesting information that debunks all the dieting advice that can be so confusing. I’m reserving the stars until I see the results of taking this advice.

Very good insight into the 800 calorie weight loss program. Mosley nails it again, explaining deep science in a way someone like me can understand. Very helpful book to get you started with weight loss, keto, and developing a lifestyle of healthy living

This is a very easy to read book, filled with research, useful tips, evidence and recipes. It's an update/re-write on Mosley's 5:2 diet book. Chapters include one on why we put on weight in the first place - and it's not as simple as 'eat more than we need' - there are decades of past diet advice and food industry motivations to overcome. The book is based around a healthy mediterranean diet (not the pizza and pasta!) filled with fish and fresh vegetables. Activity is also important but you don't have to join a gym - walking or riding an exercise bike are great. There are many recipes and meal plans included. And the best thing - I've started to put it into practise!!

A quick read that does hone into the diets that make most sense from evidence based research. The annoying aspect is the sense of entering a franchise where every bit of info is isolated off in another publication.

Generally it is inspiring to get going with transformation.

The diet in this book works. I lost over 5 kilos in 2 weeks following this plan.

The book gets a bit repetitive but I suppose that is to be expected when the overall premise is so simple. I did find the scientific research interesting. The point Mosley made about how losing weight for any period of time is better for your health than not losing any at all was compelling and spurred me to get going. However, it wasn't very sustainable for me. I'm still 2.5kgs lighter than before reading this book though so I'll take it. I would definitely do it again.

The thing I love about this diet book,as opposed to most, is the fact that Mosley cites and references the science behind his conclusions and provides those references to his audience. There are a gazillion and one diet books out there and most of them are the product of a celebrity or laypreson with absolutely ZERO knowledge of the actual effect their advice might have on people. And what makes me angry is the fact most of them don't seem to care as long as they keep selling books. Mosley is different - not only is their sound science behind his diet but he is also willing to change and update his advice as new evidence becomes avaliable to him.

The Fast 800 is an updated version of Mosley's massively popular Fast Diet combined with elements of his 8-Week Blood Sugar Diet - both of which have been adjusted as new research has become avaliable. He also test these diets on himself & has taken into account the experiences of other people who have followed his 5:2 Diet. Since The Fast Diet came out we have had many of our bookstore customers tell us that they have had success losing and keeping weight off using his methods.
