I really tried to like this book. I got to 53% and I just couldn’t. H was all over the place. Letting some lady (who is he supposed to be hooking up with) he doesn’t know watch his kid. Leaving her in his bed to help someone else out. h is insecure because of her ex, but is letting H walk all over her.

Not for me

This book started off okay and I liked the fact that there was no mind games or lack of communication. Unfortunately it went downhill for me the last third of the book.
First off, I don’t usually care for insta love, and unfortunately this book did not change my mind but rather reinforced why I don’t rarely enjoy a book with that theme.
-Trace being broken hearted/no longer trusting women for years because a woman he knew for a couple weeks (who was also on a rebound) refused his proposal for marriage and she reunited with her ex. His difficulty trusting after that seemed a bit far fetched for me
-Masey’s boyfriend proposing to her on the pier (a reenactment of Trace being dumped by Voldemort) was corny.
-Trace’s tantrum/pouting because Masey asked for a day to consider his marriage proposal….they knew each the for 10 days and he had a problem because she wanted to consider his proposal before answering. His reaction was ridiculous

Ooooooooh...dirty, dirty, dirty, but also filled with lots of heart.

I have to say this was one of the most emotionally intense books that I've probably ever read from the male's POV before. I felt like Shayla had a connection that was deeply tapped into the male psyche and everything that Trace was feeling emotionally and physically came through like I was living inside his head. It was a beautiful connection that had be completely immersed and unwilling to leave. So while this was hot...it was also heartfelt.

Trace is known to be a playboy, but his life changed the moment he became a father. A single father at that. When his sister-in-law asks him for a favor, to help one of her friends out of a sexual slump, it isn't necessarily a hardship considering he's been on a dry spell since the birth of his son.

One night is all they are both looking for, but could it be more?

Masey wasn't looking for more than a fling while visiting Hawaii, but things became a bit more complicated the longer she stayed in Trace's company. He is certainly more than the playboy persona her best friend led her to believe, but she was only prepared to visit, not to stay forever.

Could she possibly dare to hope for more?

While this is part of a series, it can be read as a complete standalone.

I honestly don’t know how Ms. Black does it. The intimacy level of each book of the More Than Words series is more so than the last. More Than Dare You may be the most Intimate of them all. Two people hurt by love, find themselves being swept up in the simplistic intimacy that lies within a kiss. A kiss that is the kindling needed to the beginning of something deeper, bigger and far more than either one could have expected.

Shayla Black wrote a fantastic book. I loved Masey and Trace's story and was unable to put this book down from start to finish. This is a must read book and I eagerly await the next book from this fantastic author.

Trace's gigolo status has always been something he never shied away from. In fact his love for the ladies is well known. But when he is asked to have one night with Masey to literally break her out of her bedroom slump he finds himself not really enjoying his status. Will Masey be the one to break this bad boy out of his customary shell? Or will the baggage she is trying to overcome be too much to be handled? Once again Shayla Black has written a true and honest love story. Making the difference between what is perceived and what is expected to what is the surprising underlying want and need is done in such a way that the reader cannot help but want both characters to work through everything and be together. Throw in Trace's little boy and you have even more to love. Another awesome read in a wonderful series.

This series has become an automatic one-click for me--which means my standards were high going into this read. Now I'll make it official: my expectations were blown right off their swooning, sighing hinges.
But the hot, sexy swoon factor is just the start of what's going on here. I love this book for so many more reasons than that. Important reasons. The core of that reasoning revolves around the story's two protagonists, Trace Weston and Masey Garrett, who agree they're both badly in need of a one-night stand without the Tinder hassle. What happens, of course, is so much more, taking these two through a plot that had me chuckling at times and aching in others--but most of all, rooting for this destined duo in ways that had me thinking about them even when I had to tear myself away from the book (which wasn't for very long periods, I can guarantee you that).
Ms. Black's prowess for creating believable, beautiful protagonists is at an all-time high in this book. There's a gorgeous and wonderful maturity in how Masey and Trace connect with each other. They don't have to help each other "grow up" because they ARE grown up, and have processed a lot of their "issues" already. They both already know their baggage; now they're looking for someone with a set that matches--despite how neither of them quite knows it yet!
This was a sublimely perfect read for me. It checked every single box for the magical memorability that has become the hallmark of this wonderful series. Brava!

If you want a steamy, cheesy story with inconsistent characters & a wild “plot”, this is for you. It was fun enough for 3⭐️’s, but no more. This is for someone who wants to unwind their brain for a while. Also, it’s in a series, so to make sense of the other characters you might want to read those first. They are also filled with cheesy goodness.
