Yeah I read this out of boredom and uh.....
Noah is not a redeemable character at all, so I rooted against him the whole book. I hated how controlling and possessive he was over Elle. I didn’t see any character development from him - he just realized he couldn’t have Elle on a leash all the time and backed up the tiniest bit. Oh wow, maybe if I actually treat a girl with respect, she’ll start to like me?!?! Is this really what the author thinks girls want in guys? Someone who constantly objectifies you and dictates how you are supposed to live your life? I had some respect for Elle when she tried to stand up to Noah, but they always ended up making out anyways, so I gave up.
It was better than the atrocity of a film Netflix made, I’ll give it that. Lee is 100x more supportive in the book and forgives her a lot sooner. I really admire the way he handles Elle telling him about Noah. He had the right to be angry, of course, but he doesn’t throw the whole friendship out the window because of a stupid one-sided rule they made when they were six.

Elle is a girl who has never been kissed and Noah is her best friend's bad boy brother. They end up kissing in a Kissing Booth and suddenly they are not sure about their feelings for each other.
What I like about this book:
1. Lee.
2. Elle and Lee's relationship.
I am SO happy that Lee did not confess having feelings for her or anything. They are best friends! That's it! They love each other in a fraternal way and that's adorable. I'm really glad to finally read a book where the best friends are secretly in love with each other, or haven't realised their love yet, whatever.
3. I appreciate the fact that Noah and Elle had sex before saying "I love you". I'm not sure if I can explain what I feel about it... I just don't think sex is the bigger thing you can do to express love to someone. It's usually used in books (and movies, tv shows and etc) as the great apex of love and relationships. I was nice to have them having sex a couple of times before the love declarations.
4. Virginity (or the lack of it)
I think her mouth's virginity wasn't necessary and she didn't have to be this pure never touched girl. But, I like the way they dealt with Elle's first sex.
I mean, there was just no fuss about it.
Not a virgin anymore?
Cool.
The world keeps on turning.
I'm tired of virginity drama.
Let's all embrace the fact that girls can have sex as much as boys do and move on.
What I don't like about this book:
1. Noah's behaviour.
I don't completely hate Noah but I am SO TIRED of people writing these POSSESSIVE bad boys and expecting us to swoon over it. Noah didn't let Elle date ANYONE claiming he was "protecting her". THAT IS NOT OKAY. Elle can decide if she wants to date someone or not. Not Noah. Not anyone else.
And even worse: he would beat up whoever talked to her?!!????!??!! He is a VIOLENT JUNKIE! This is not something so called "masculine" or "something boys do". NO. IT'S ABUSIVE.
Also, he was always trying to decide if Elle's outfit was to revealing!!! THAT'S NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS, JERK! HER BODY, HER RULES!
2. The Girls (Elle's friends)
THEY WERE STEREOTYPES OF MEN'S DESCRIPTION OF GIRLS! IT GOT ME SO PISSED!
EVERY TIME THEY OPENED THEIR MOUTHS WERE TO TALK ABOUT HOW "FLYNN IS HOT" OR "YOU ARE THE ONLY GIRL WHO CAN ACT NORMAL NEAR FLYNN" AND IT GOES ON.
Gosh! I hate when people do that! The writer shrunk all the girl's presence in the book to Flynn admirers and DAMN she IS a girl! She must know we're more than that!!
3. The lie!!!!!
I'm don't know AT ALL why Elle did not tell Lee about seeing his brother. I mean, Lee asked about one hundred times if they liked each other, if she still had a crush on him, if they were in love and she denied all. Everything would have been SO less complicated if she had just said yes ONCE.
He was OKAY with it since the beginning and lying to him only screwed up everything. That was not necessary.
4. The Boys (their friends)
While the girls were all "girly" and "gossipers" and "flynn-fans", the boys were all sexually deprived??? They were acting like Elle was a goddess they were all trying to take to bed!
They were always suggesting things and acting all stupid around her.
What was the writer trying to prove? That Elle was beautiful? There are many other ways to do this. The boys didn't need to be so aroused in her presence.
On the whole, the book is easy and quick to read. It's just like reading a fanfiction to relax your mind, because you don't really have to think while doing it.
It's not the worse book I've ever read but I would hardly recommend it to anyone.
If you feel like reading anyway, please use your critical sense.

One star is fairly generous.
I was only 2% into the book and I was already witnessing Wattpad- clichéd-ness: the best friend’s brother, him being the sexiest guy alive, all the schoolgirls crushing on him, the never-ending smirks, the crooked nose that got broken in a fight. Ugh.
So, he’s never made a move on her but somehow warns all the other guys at school to stay away from her. And when she finally gets asked out, he’s going ballistic and blah blah. And then as the big hypocrite that he is, he keeps her all to himself. I can’t. I just can’t.
Well, the title is The Kissing Booth, but I most certainly did not understand by that, that the whole story would revolve around them kissing all the time and making out. And she sleeps with him after less than two weeks. What? Give me a moment here while I gag.
I’m done here.
Edit: I really wished the book was as good as the movie, not that the movie was great either but it was definitely better than the book - and I'm a strong believer in the book is always better than the movie, but not in that case.

This book is truly fantastic! It's a simple feel-good book which makes you feel all warm inside because of its cuteness (all those who've read the book hopefully get the inside joke!).

The writing is very childish, to the point where I am surprised this book got so much attention. Granted, the Netflix movie was okay.
This book is obviously written by someone who know nothing about how America is, especially L.A. I’d say if you watched the movie, read the book just to see where all the ideas came from.

MY OPINION: **
This is a very short, very cute read that doesn't take too much brainpower or time. To be completely honest, I loved the movie a lot better than the book. I found the book a lot less interesting and the movie a lot more perfect.
The book kept on going. There were times when I thought it would end and then it would keep on coming. The characters annoyed me, I actually felt really bad for Lee, and there was no chemistry between Noah and Elle. This is a Wattpad story (or it was at some point) but there was none of the cheesy love in it that I expected. I've read better Wattpad stories that haven't been published and I was disappointed.
Noah was annoying. This is the weirdest thing because I always find the guy characters the best because you know, they're the guy characters. But Noah is SO irritating. I didn't find his love for violence endearing. It wasn't like he was fighting for Elle. It was more like he was fighting for himself which is selfish and not admirable. In Wattpad books, I feel like the guys are always so swoonworthy but this guy was not! I felt no endearment to this boy and that disappointed me because Jacob Elordi is a sweetheart.
The whole time, I was disappointed in Elle. There was none of the fun, weird, quirky girl that the movie made Elle out to be. Joey King was ten times better at the role haha. Elle was boring and she had no personality and she spent a lot of the time being really indecisive and stupid about her own feelings. And I did not ship her with Noah at all.
Lee was SO cute. I don't love Lee the most in the movie, mainly because I find him slightly unreasonable, but in here, he was definitely my favorite character. He wasn't a horrible best friend like he is in the movie and he seemed supportive to a point. I found myself laughing at the things he said. Only the things he said.
I was overall disappointed with how this turned out. I love me a good Wattpad story any day but this wasn't my favorite and I have so many other Wattpad stories that are so much better. I would recommend this book to readers looking for a short romance!
Main Character: Elle
Sidekick(s): Noah, Lee, etc
Villain(s): Love, secrets, misunderstandings, etc
Contemporary Elements: This was a contemporary novel set in modern times.

this book was not it, to put it simply i didn’t like it, at all. I should have DNF’d because reading it felt like a chore i pushed through and was highly disappointed. It was unrealistic, cheesy and the romance just wasn’t there.
Listening to an American say ‘they’re scrapping’ completely unironically was mildly traumatising
Not great, but not terrible. I could have skipped reading this one. I skimmed about half of the book. The movie was better this time.
3.5 Stars. A very enjoyable read however there is some plotline issues. But aside from that I'm looking forward to reading The Rolling Dice by the same author. Full review to come!
