1 star - maybe? IDK - this book was a rollercoaster, but at the end just left me disinterested and with a bad aftertaste :/ Somewhere between 200 &250 pages I decided I kind of just wanted to get this read over with, which is unfortunate because upto page 100 I thought this had great potential. It's not necessarily a terrible book, the plot could be interesting, ever since buying the book on holiday in India many years ago I thought it would be an interesting read, it has short chapters, but that is also where the redeeming qualities end. The problem is that it isn't as interesting as I thought it would be.
One thing that greatly added to my dislike of the book was the constant references to other installments in the franchise, and I can't say if that's a choice by the author or something from the game. Since I haven't played the games or read any of the books in the series I just felt out of it 90% of the time. That being said the story was also somewhat predictable.
Another thing that really bothered me was the constant use of 'foreign language'. The book is set in Italy, I assumed they were speaking Italian the whole time (that was just written in English because that's the language the book/game was written in) - then out of no where they randomly put in these random Italian phrases and words - this would not be a bad thing if they confirmed the characters were mainly speaking in English, which the author never actually does. So there are just these random conversations in Italian (which you then have to go to the back of the book to get the direct translation of whatever is being said).
Also there are way to many characters to keep track of, which goes back to my earlier comment about references to previous installments.
The book is also Split into 3 parts Part 1 is 400 pages, part 2 is 20 pages, part 3 is 10 pages - There are really no climaxes or anything between the parts, there is really no reason for those part separations to be there
Spoiler
Also there are several problematic plot points that just made me enjoy the book less and less, like a prostitute getting chocked until she passes out and then raped, meanwhile Ezio justifies not doing anything by saying her eyes seemed to tell him she was in control of the situation - what even is this? like seriously what the hell is this crap?

Imo this wasn't as good as the first book - which is ironic since it's my favourite game - with grammar and punctuation mistakes added it was fine but didn't match up

I liked the first book in the series more, but this was still enjoyable. Ezio is great.

I really loved all of the other assassins creed books and I loved this one too, but only after I'd read a few chapters. The beginning was very confusing and didn't really grab my attention. I actually started the book 3 times before I actually read it. But once I got into it I really enjoyed it :D I could hardly put it down!!

It's about Ezio defeating again Borio family and pope himself.

Ending with Machiavelli himself, friend of Ezio. Admitting he will write the prince.

There is sex scene(and I always dislike reading about sex motions and all there is) and later on returning apple of Eden into volt, with is planing seed. And I do think that is plain connection.

The Vault was created to store an Apple of Eden on an erected pedestal at the center of a large chamber, and also contained a projection of one of the First Civilization members, the "goddess," Juno. To enter the Vault's central chamber, one needed to speak aloud the number "72"

The number 72 played a significant role to the modern-day Assassins. Most notably, it was used as the password to gain access to the Colosseum Vault during the retrieval of the Apple of Eden in October 2012. In this fantasy world.

I disliked this book a lot, plain and tasteless, nothing to enjoy.

Maybe would it better "if I did it myself", went through this myself, like when I enjoy reading, so often and as my common practice.

And women, love is, always has been everything to me, since very early childhood. So I would not betray my manhood and kill beloved, or sleep with the other one. And so I wait.

I love this book, enough said... No but it wasn't a surprise that I would love it, because I loved the first book.

I was so sad for Ezio when he wanted to say that he loved Caterina but couldn't because she didn't love him, and the he felt like she only used him :(

I can't wait to read the next book :)

I wanted to like this book since because it has an interesting premise. I'm not a gamer, but I have heard of the game series on which this book is based. However, it started off so slowly - and this is with fighting scenes on just about every page for the first 1/5th of the book. That's actually why it's slow. It begins to pick up after a while when it focuses more on letting the plot unravel. Of course, the battles and fighting continue, but the characters are also developed just a bit more. Thank goodness. Overall, it was definitely a good read, but it won't be among my favorites this year.
