I don't usually like novellas because they seem to be incomplete or too shallow, but in this case, Kelly Jamieson did a brilliant job! Andrew is an NHL hockey player. He was adopted into Jenna's family at 16, when he lost his parents. He was so grateful and so happy to join a caring, loving family that even though he fell in love with Jenna, he didn't act on it, out of respect for his new adoptive parents. Jenna's parents had indeed warned him delicately off Jenna, so he did stay away. Then this Christmas, when the whole family got,together, and Jenna arrived with a new boyfriend, things got muddled, feelings ran high, and it was all they could do, watch each other and yearn for what they couldn't have. Jenna understood Andrew's position, but still hurt. It was beautiful to,read about a family,s fun time at Christmas. Like Ms Jamieson other books, her characters are nice people you would like to meet and make friends with. Loved it!

She’s tried to forge ahead with her life, going as far as moving to New York after college and even trying speed dating, but no man will ever measure up. Now that the holidays have brought them together again, the connection between them is almost palpable and hard to ignore. Can she keep hiding her true feelings for him?
Even though this is hockey series, I really liked that this holiday novella revolves around family. A loveable, wacky and unconventional family around which we can jump in and get to know Jenna and Andrew. Two very charming characters whose love was bursting at the seams to blossom.
Andrew was briefly introduced in Major Misconduct but we only got minor details about him. I really enjoyed getting to know him. I felt so much for all his loss and how that impacted his life in general but mostly his relationship with Jenna. He’s this incredibly successful, sexy but totally down to earth, responsible, caring man who just wants to have a family to belong to. I cheered and swooned over his take charge attitude when he finally decided to get what he wanted.
Jenna was fun, independent and incredibly brave never denying loving Andrew but also trying to live her life knowing in her mind they could never be. That didn’t stop her from skating with him, sitting on his lap while he was dressed as Santa or thinking dirty thoughts while they played Dirty Minds with the family which made for really fun moments during the read.
I really liked how Jamieson wrote Jenna and Andrew’s relationship, which could have felt rushed but didn’t because of all the history they shared and the strong connection they had. It felt natural and right.
Off Limits is standalone novella #1.5 in the Aces Hockey series by Kelly Jamieson. A fast read, full of longing and smexyness with a cheerful white Christmas backdrop. Told from both points of view with a happy ending.

This book reminds me (almost on all points) of Just One of the Guys by Kristan Higgins. If you have read that story, you've read this one. Honestly.
She moves away from the family to get away from him and hasn't seen him in years. They reunite after years and eventually get together. Kristan Higgens does a better execution of this story. I felt like I was reading a water downed version of Kristan's book.
If you enjoyed this story, you will love Just One of the Guys.

Started off great, then I felt the author kinda just gave up and moved things super fast to end it. I was/am a fan of her Icing book and really hoped this would be just as good.

LOVED this. Accidentally read it out of order, but I'll read the first one soon! Looks to be a great new series!
