this BORDERED on corny. the twist ending was a little… hm. i had to google if it was based on a true story, which i don’t believe it is.

the story started one way and ended a completely different way… but like, i kind of wanted to see the story play out the way the first half made us believe it would? i’m just left feeling underwhelmed

All 5!! Ohhhh What a twisted and crazy un-put-downable beautiful mess! Loved the characters. Loved the writing. Loved that last sentence!!! Highly recommend this to anyone who likes to read about what it's like to be triple dipped in crazy juice. lol

I love Tarryn Fisher's books. Her writing is phenomenal. Her stories are the kind that stick around in my mind long after I've read them. Unreliable narrators and twists in the story are exactly what I've come to expect when reading her books.

However, Bad Mommy is different. The writing was still amazing and I had a hard time putting down the book, but something seemed... off, for lack of a better word. While the unreliable narrators were exactly what I expected, I was left waiting for a twist that didn't come. The crazy twist I was expecting (and not just because this is a Tarryn Fisher book either, a twist felt inevitable for the majority of the book) could have easily pushed this book into 4 or 5 star territory.

I'm unsure how I feel about the different points of view throughout the book. Fig's PoV felt stronger than the other two. During the entirety of the book, though, I was intrigued by these characters. I'm a sucker for flawed characters and this book has them in spades.

Overall, Bad Mommy is a good book that just fell short of spectacular. Perhaps it's because I have such high expectations of Tarryn Fisher's work or maybe this one just missed the mark for me. Either way, I'm not disappointed that I picked it up.

If this book had a different ending, it probably would have been 5 stars. As it is - it's barely 2, because for most of the story it feels like it is building up to something spectacular and monumental, but what you get instead of those rocketing fireworks you expected at the end, is a weak, sad fizzle.
The character building, the narration, the insight into the psyche, were all gripping and had me fully captivated. What a shame this ended in such a pointless way.
I saw a hint somewhere that it was based on what the author's friend actually did to her. I wonder if that is true, but whichever way, this story is not fulfilled for me. For a fully fictional thriller, it is definitely lacking a thrilling end; for a true story, the narration has too much of a fictional quality. I feel like this book is on the fence about what it wants to be and I wish it had gone one way or the other.

When a writer loves both a psychopath and a sociopath, then things are going to get messy . I would have given 3 stars but the way the ĺast 100 page turned out i had to give 4 stars . The characters were so fucked up . Not just fig , but darius . Wow . I am not into thrillers much but this turned out worth it . Loved it . I am dissapointed that its over but happy that i am out of this fucking shit .

What a crazy book! I expected nothing less from Tarryn Fisher, she writes these stories that suck you in about these crazy awful interesting people. I could not put this book down, it frustrated me how fast things went in some parts like she went from A to D and I was rereading pages thinking I missed something but she was telling it from the mind of crazy people or people in crazy situations so I kinda get why she did that it made you as a reader feel a little crazy which is all part of the appeal of a Tarryn book. I enjoyed this read but now I need to read about nice people with a happy ending. LOL
