Ok this is my review for all three books. To sum up what im going to say in one sentence; this book is LITERALLY, like basically word for word but with characters switched [b:A Court of Thorns and Roses|16096824|A Court of Thorns and Roses (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #1)|Sarah J. Maas|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1546406962l/16096824._SY75_.jpg|21905102]

Now this is not a problem for me and here's why;
It's like another take on ACOTAR but in a parallel universe, ima mark the similarities.
-There is a sun lord, Archeron, and a dark lord, Stolas,
-Haven picks the sun lord before choosing the dark lord who is the sun lords enemy.
-The sun lord is highkey toxic, and only wants to protect our heroine and is afraid of her new abilities.
-The dark lord is a prisoner to an evil woman, and basically her slave against her will in an effort to protect his people and those he loves.
-Haven throws a shoe at the dark lord (sound familiar?)
-Haven makes a bargain with the dark lord, against the sun lords wishes
-The Sun lord turns bad and teams up with the big evil
-Haven and the dark lord can mindspeak
-The dark lord has wings and a big wingspan ;)
-Haven is an archer primarily

I'm sure by now you get the gist but I am quite certain that if ACOTAR did not exist this book wouldn't either. However FEAR not, this book did add its own original story and take to everything, its just that as a fan of ACOTAR the deja vu was CRAZY.

I never liked how everything with Tamlin was handled in ACOTAR, but I like what happens to THIS Tamlin, wayyyy better. It makes way more sense too. So its nice to finally have closure y'know?

Anywho I'm about to start the fourth book :)))))

Ahhhh

This would have to be my favourite one so far in the series. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time and I didn’t want to put it down, even though I had to at times due to work. I didn’t see that ending coming at all and now I have to wait till November to find out what happens next.

2.5 stars but rounded up cause I'm feeling generous & there was more Stolas content. That's basically the only reason I'm here to begin with. It's hard to enjoy a book when the main character makes you want to facepalm yourself repeatedly.

Picture this: Our main character making every bad decision 100% of the time. Going against EVERY-BLASTED-THING their friends & loved ones suggest. (Keep in mind some of these friends are hundreds/thousands of years old..so they've been around the block a few times & seen some shit). This same character is just..running amok making hairbrained, spur of the moment decisions AGAIN & AGAIN with no thought of future consequences in regards to her dumbass or others. THAT MY FRIENDS IS HAVEN ASHWOOD.

When I'm reading a series, character development & growth are things that I try to pay attention to. King Maker is 3/5 in the Kingdom of Runes series. Haven is just as impulsive, reckless, & dare I say STUPID as she was in Oath Taker. She is a 17ish year old mortal who for some reason thinks she knows what is best for any situation, at any time, no matter that basically all of her plans fail 95% of the time & she, (or someone close to her), ends up dead AF.

So why am I still reading this hot garbage?! Two words: Stolas & Free.
I have Kindle Unlimited so the whole series is free to enjoy through that platform.
Stolas Darkshade checks all my bad boy main character boxes, & I was impatiently waiting for SOME PLOT THINGS to happen. Since most of those thingsss transpired in this installment I'll probably refrain from finishing this series. I've read this basic ass plot over & over again for the last 10 years. It reminds me a lot of SJM's Thorns & Roses series, but the writing isn't as good. Grey doesn't do anything different to make her stories stand out in the long run.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire as written by Sarah J Maas.
I continue to wish the author had distanced themselves from the obvious inspirations. I continue to say ( and this is why I keep reading it) that the story had the potential of a good YA fantasy series.

This book was great!! Even better than the first two in the series! Haven and Bell are crazy!! This book took me on a wild ride. I was on the edge of my seat and couldn’t wait to see how it ended!!

okay WHAT! how do these keep getting better!

I did not expect to love this third edition as much as I did. the second novel wrapped up fairly well, and I absolutely adored all of the character arcs in that one. so count me FLOORED when all of that was ten fold in this book!!!

when the tournament was first announced and it led the reader in a very specific direction of how the book was going to go, I admit I was wary 😅

I mean, how many goblet of fire and red queen tropes are we going to get in fantasy novels??

but THEN my dearest darling stolas appeared, captured my heart, and flew away with it 🥹 (I told you I always fall for the dark broody morally grey ones)

I was a little questionable about haven’s so-called “love triangle” in this one because boy did her emotions flip flop faster than my stomach on a roller coaster 🥴 I could tell it was going for rhys x tamlin x feyre vibes but totally missed the mark tbh

HOWEVER - the last 30% of the book completely made up for all of the grievances I had about the uber slow first 2/3rds 😅

when I tell you, I was jumping around my house at 1am in excitement at the entire sequence of the ending … it was WILD 🤭

all I can say is I am very impressed at how audrey keeps the story going throughout series and her writing keeps developing more and more. I am seriously looking forward to the last installment!
