I really enjoyed this book and learned quite a bit about the “prosperity gospel”. It must have been very hard for Costco Hinn to write this book, knowing the reaction he’d get from his family. But he stood for the truth, which is very admirable and something all Christians should emulate.

Having lived and done ministry in multiple underdeveloped countries where the prosperity gospel has ravaged churches, I rate this book so highly based purely on relevancy and recommendability. The narrative makes it very readable, and he mixes in great biblical truth to go along with it. Good read!

I remember seeing clips of Benni Hinn's ministry on TV when I was young. I always felt uncomfortable with his theatrics and, therefore, wrote him off as a kook, but I never thought about his ministry past that.
God, Greed, and the (Prosperity) Gospel is written by Benni's nephew, Costi Hinn. I felt that Costi Hinn struck the right tone of "truth with grace" through what is essentially an exposé. Hinn lays all of the problems of the Prosperity movement on the table without revelling in bitterness or self-righteousness.
Costi Hinn's writing is clear and kept my interest throughout the book. I would recommend God, Greed, and the (Prosperity) Gospel to anyone who knows people in the Prosperity movement or who are interested in learning more about the Benni Hinn ministry.

A lot of really good things for any religious person to think about in this book, not just Christians. Well written and thought provoking.

I really enjoyed this book. I grew up in an evangelical church. Not one that necessarily preached prosperity gospel, but close enough. This was a great, easy read on why this particular type of preaching is wrong, and how you can change your view of God and the Bible. I read it all in one afternoon and evening. Not a difficult read, but full of great little truth nuggets that really resonated with me. He started out at the beginning saying that if you like things to go deep, this probably wouldn't go deep enough for you. And if you like a more storytelling approach, it probably wouldn't have quite enough stories for you. I thought it was a good balance of the two, although I do like things to go a little deeper myself.

I've read a few polemical works before this one, and all of them have been done poorly. Costi's title here, however, is the exception. He begins by giving his testimony of growing up as a Hinn. He then recounts his involvement in the Benny Hinn ministry, as well as his father's ministry. He marries a girl that isn't a good fit for the family, and through various events, he is eventually converted to Christ. The latter chapters of the book focus on the dangers of the prosperity gospel, a Biblical perspective of health and wealth, and tips on how to reach someone who is snared in this counterfeit religion.
Costi is very respectful for his family, while at the same time being very candid about the false theology they promote. This book provides good insights not only to the Hinn family ministry, but also gives helps to anyone who is emerging from the prosperity gospel to the true Biblical gospel. I recommend it highly.
