I didn't like this quite as much as the first one in the series, but all the key ingredients were still here.

Oldest sister Rana has always been the screw up in her family. That's why for the last year she's given up her party girl ways and only gone on dates with "suitable" men. But then why is she spying on her new artist neighbor who reminds her of all the fun Bad Rana used to have?

After being brutally attacked, Micah hasn't been happy with any of the paintings he's created. But when he catches his next door neighbor spying on him, he begins to feel that old creative energy return, and maybe something else.

Now Alisha Rai just needs to write a story about Lena finding someone after dropping that loser Rahul.

Had this hanging around the Nook for a while, picked it up since it's the next Fated Mates readalong. I really liked this "we're only here for the sex don't you dare fall in love with me" erotic romance. Rana and Micah are fantastic characters, each trying to figure out their lives in different ways. And we get to see a little bit of Devi here, which is nice since the end of her book left a few things unsaid with her sisters after the big climactic scene where the sisters realize that Devi is in a committed ménage (if you haven't read [b:Glutton for Pleasure|6619109|Glutton for Pleasure (Pleasure Series, #1)|Alisha Rai|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1328331571l/6619109._SX50_.jpg|6813250], go do that, but fyi it's two brothers, although the "swords" do not cross).

This a great story about self acceptance, love and healing. Micah and Rana are softies.

Rana: I think a lot people have done what Rana does which is try to fit the mold of what other people want. So much so they bury themself in some capacity to be acceptable and loved. Rai hits the nail on how self punishing and hateful this can be. You can feel how this shame is hurting Rana.

Micah: His kindness and empathy are a part of his hurt. How do you help someone when it's coming from care and concern? I think that's a harder task.

This series is a hit for me. I am putting this in the ether: I wish there was a book for Leena. I and other readers would read it no matter when it comes out.

I can't believe it - another contemporary I liked! Alisha Rai is so good at writing family... rounded characters with layered relationships. I think the family relationships in this one (and also the first in the series) shine more than the romance, and it's particularly impressive that she can do that with all that steaminess going on! Lots of small moments, but thoughtful, smart ones.

Rana has been spying on her hot artist neighbor, Micah, from her bedroom window. What she doesn’t know is that he is completely aware she has been watching him! After witnessing a very steamy scene, Rana follows Micah to his art show where he confronts her for her voyeuristic tendencies. She is rightfully embarrassed, but less so when Micah makes her a “one night only” proposition. Obviously one night only doesn’t cut it, so they agree to continue to hook-up while Micah draws/paints Rana. The one stipulation – they can’t fall in love with each other.

This book is hot and emotional and I loved it! Both Rana and Micah have serious issues personally and with their families that they need to work out, so it makes navigating their relationship that much harder. I could relate to Rana so much. Personality wise, we’re not at all alike, but there have been so many times when I have tried to reinvent myself for the benefit of others. Older and wiser, etc., I now realize it is much easier to be myself! SPOILER – Micah is a survivor of a murder attempt, so he is dealing with the ramifications of the attack. My heart broke more than once for both of these characters, but the way Rai writes both character arcs was so fulfilling to read. I highly recommend this book!
