The Girl Before You by Nicola Rayner

Did not finish book.
Unfortunately I had to DNF this book as I could not continue reading this story. It was very slow and very boring that I put it down for a long time and could not pick it up. It’s unfortunate that I couldn’t finish this book because I was looking forward to reading it.

Provoke you was gifted to me in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

* Content warnings: violence, death, alcohol abuse, sexual scenes and strong language *

This is part of a series but can be read as a standalone which I really love in romance series. Provoke you is a dual perspective novel between our two main characters. Right from the beginning of this story we see that our main characters have an undeniable connection but Matt is determined to just do his job and keep Ela safe, but Ela has different ideas.

This is not just a regular romance novel and has a hint of a mystery when Matt and Ela's life are put in danger. With many twist, turns and very steamy sex scenes I really enjoyed my read of Provoke you.

Both of our characters are flawed and have many struggles within themselves but I really enjoyed watching them grow and learn to face their fears and open up to one another.

This was a really unique fantasy novel where people can give away pieces of their body away for wishes. This is a really dark and grim story where our main character gave away her heart to get away from her family.

This book has many discussions about abuse and how abuse doesn't have to be physical and how psychological abuse can be just as damaging. This story definitely took a different turn to what I expected when one of the side characters losses their shit and does something terrible that never got addressed at all!

Within this story we have good LGBT rep as our main characters roommate is a lesbian and had a really positive coming out story to her parents which I really liked and it warmed my heart.

The characters in this story were so lovable and quirky. I loved them all especially James who was your stereotypical weird artist student and the romance was adorable!

The ending really broke me and it was not something that I expected at all but it was an amazing ending

This is a beautiful yet heartbreaking story that I know I'm going to remember for a long time.

I really adored this story. Right from the beginning we are thrown right into the story. Claudia really thought out this story with it's super complicated but thoroughly explained scientific research.

In this story we get to see parallel worlds, a futuristic London with so many technological advances, Russia in the past during a sort of revolution and also a world where it has been destroyed by climate change. Seeing these different types of worlds were really intriguing.

This was a really intriguing and unique story and need book two. I really loved the characters in this story and did not expect the ending which was amazing.

Before reading we are okay it was on my radar but I didn't really know what it was about. This story discusses many important issues such as death, grief, depression and suicide.

This story was really relatable, real and the LGBTQIA+ rep was effortlessly put into the story which I did not expect at all.

We follow Marin who has run away from her hometown after the death of her grandfather and cutting everyone out from her old life. Unfortunately she couldn't run away from her problems and has to face it head on in the form of her old best friend Mabel.

As the truth of her grandfathers death unearths Marin begins to realise that she doesn't need to be on her own. This story is a true representation of what no matter what we go through we will be okay.

Gifted | This book In The Warsaw Ghetto was gifted to me by Netgalley in return for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Before starting this book I knew it would be a heartbreaking read and I was right. In the Warsaw Ghetto gripped me right from the beginning. For those of you who don’t know, I am a huge history buff and I love everything to do with history and learning as much as possible. So let’s have a look at my In The Warsaw Ghetto A.R.C book review.

This book was tense, dark and something I believe should be read by anyone who loves history. Although this book is a work of fiction and isn’t historically accurate it gives so much context into what the Jews went through during Hitler’s reign of power within the Third Reich.

This story is broken up into three parts. It is fast-paced and full of suspense. Right from the beginning, we become aware of the threat Hitler has on both Ala, Max when we meet them and all of the Jews. This story moves very quickly which makes sense because Hitler’s take over was very very quick in Poland during his reign which is factually correct.

Throughout this story, there are many twists and turns that leave you breathless waiting to see what happens next and when I think I have the plot figured out it changes again and leaves me guessing.

My heart went out to each and every person within this story. Although I loved this story and loved the insight it gave me to the treatment of the Jews during the time of Hitler’s reign of terror. In the Warsaw Ghetto truly broke my heart and I know it will stay in my heart and mind for a very very long time. Once I finished this book I needed a few days away from reading to think about this book and make sure I didn’t burst into tears.

This is a must-read 5-star book. It is so important to remind everyone of what happened during this horrible time. I believe that this time period should always be remembered. This is a must-read if you are a history or just love reading historical fiction. Although this story isn’t very relatable to my life it is still a hugely important story that pulls at your heartstrings and tear ducts.
Blood Awakens by Jessaca Willis

In a post-apocalyptic world where no one is safe is definitely my kind of book! Blood Awakens follows the lives of four people: Sean, Mara, Graciela and Santiago as they live each day as it comes in this dystopian world.

At the beginning of this book curiosity peaks as we meet our first of four main characters as we learn what is happening in this story and learn what sort of world this story is set in. We get a sense of danger and a hint of foreshadowing regarding Sean the first character we come in contact with.

Immediately reading the first sentence I became really intrigued by this story so much more than I already was and knew I would like reading it. Jessaca created some mystery and suspense that just made me want to know more and more.

I enjoyed every single page within this story and I cannot wait to get my hands on the sequel to this so I can learn more about these awesome characters and how they survive the cruel and horrible world that they live in. This is a definite 5 star read and by far one of the best books I have read in a long long time.
