Suzanne Collin’s is a mastermind and writes in the way that e proves she understands the importance of storytelling and how to use it in its purest form. Fiction is a lens that allows readers to see a world they may be too close or too far to see clearly in reality. She uses her writing to make accessible windows into the real world through fictional means that are engaging and compelling. She crafts her world building meticulously and has such skill that as a reader I feel secure in her capable hands to find the story she’s truly telling. This installment to the hunger games series was no exception and was equal parts entertaining and sobering. The characters are approachable and human in way that tells the author takes her job seriously and respects a readers time and space.
In regards to the plot, this book hurt me in ways I knew it would and surprised me in ways I’d hoped for. The characters were love able which made every page a burden because of the unique experience of knowing their fates before they do. All in all a great book with a great purpose.

This was incredible. So beautifully done, with enough yearning to make hozier jealous. I truly don’t even know where to start. This has everything I love: banter, yearning, competence, and poetry. The pacing was perfect to give you the splices of dense and albeit confusing settings and sequences in easily managed pieces where I felt I could easily keep going or take a break to digest. If you’re ok with feeling confused all the time for the sake of the characters development then this is for you.

I unfortunately have to give this five stars. I have been incredibly critical of Hazelwoods work in the past. I read The Love Hypothesis and scoffed at the obvious fan fiction origins and the writing style. I’m a sucker though and decided to read love theoretically with the intention to scoff again…but I kinda loved it? I have a thing about characters (and people in general) who are upfront about their interest in others and have no intentions to hide it. I’m stupid, I need it spelled out for me or I won’t believe you. The love interest in this book was the perfect balance of obsessed with the main character but Totally Chill™️ about it. This book has made me realize and come to terms with the fact that I want to have someone who takes care of me and it’s a tough pill to swallow that that is something Ali Hazelwood of all people was the one to bring that to my attention. All in all a vibe of a book that successfully makes up for the cringy millennial traits by having a romance perfectly tailored to my own personal flavor of mentally unwell.

was worried it was going to be over hyped but I enjoyed it the whole time. It have divergent meets how to train your dragon but with characters that I would totally hang out with. I can see how it would be cringy to some people but I genuinely enjoyed the narrative style. The character dynamics were very similar to most you’ll see (by popular demand) but somehow refreshing im comparison. It had great pacing and felt very balanced, well thought out, and well paced. Violet and the rest of the characters are fantastic and compelling and I genuinely feel like even though the cast grew pretty large, it benefited the book. The book had the right kind of subtle representation that makes it feel genuine so that’s a huge plus. As of right now I have no notes. Violet is a badass and I think she could hang.
