Not much to say about this one. Penelope's character has so much more dimension in the show. And Collin kind of sucks in this one.

The whole Cinderella-type story kind of annoyed me at first, but it ended up being pretty cute. I am just glad there was no trying on of the slippers or anything. But a glove w a monogram on it? I will accept it. This one has been my favorite (which I still do not ~love~ any of them) of the Bridgerton series so far. It is probably mainly because I already really liked Benedict's character in the show. He is honestly less likable in the book, especially regarding the issue of consent. I hate how he relentlessly pursues Sophie, even after she has declined. I understand that it is supposed to be romantic because of how much he loves and her blah blah. But still. She said no. I hope they handle that better, if Benedict ends up with a season in the show. I did looooove when he breaks her out of jail, though. Good work, son.

Kate Sheffield becoming Kathani Shamra was one of the best things that could have happened to this story. Not only did I like the show's version of this story better because of Simone Ashley, but because the show gives the characters so much more.. they are far more interesting in the show. Perhaps that is because of the great work of the actors, but there are just so many more layers to the story in the show. I love Kate and Anthony's story, so I did not hate the book. I am quite glad though that the show took creative liberties. Anthony is also so much more charming in the show (which I am sure is a lot to do w how dreamy Johnathan Bailey is). I also appreciate that in the show they genuinely fall in love and then end up marrying, rather than being forced to marry due to being caught in a precarious position.

All in all, the story had good bones and the show made it better. Once again, I might be feeling this due to having watched the show first. Regardless, the book was okay. Not bad, but not great.

I, like many I'm sure, am reading the Bridgerton series because of the show. And for the first time in my life, I gotta say that the show is better. I am not sure if it is just because I saw the show first or what.. but I much much prefer the show. My biggest qualm with Daphne's story is the scene in which she forces her husband to do something he has clearly expressed he does not want. I did not like this in the show, nor in the book. It is gross and unnecessary. Both the show and the book would be better without that.

Normal People by Sally Rooney

An absolutely refreshing story. It really is exactly what you think it’d be. It’s a story about two very normal people with normal lives that face normal challenges. The pure love that exists between Connell and Marianne is breathtaking and frustrating at the same time. To see two people that love each other manage to hurt one another over and over again is heart-wrenching, but again, normal. A superb read. I’d recommend this book to anyone.

I cried. And then I cried again. Read the entire thing in one day. And then did it again. Absolutely amazing.

I did not hate this book, but I did not love it. Evelyn Hugo is definitely a complex character. It is hard to decide if you love her or if you hate her. I think the author did a good job in creating such a character and in crafting her story, but it still did not really enthrall me. I don’t think I’d ever pick this book up for a re-read, but it wasn’t terrible.

I love a good enemies-to-lovers pipeline and this one definitely did not disappoint. Was it a little predictable? Sure. But that’s not necessarily a bad thing. It was an adorable love story. It was corny and cheesy and altogether wonderful.
