I enjoyed the story and loved imaging the beautiful countryside. I wish that the subplots would have been introduced earlier with more attention given to those characters. I also wish that it wouldn't have ended so abruptly.

I just love reading Danielle Steel. She takes me away and makes me forget reality for a while. This was a very short read and just what I needed.

I am so glad that I read this book. It was eye opening about how Korean women cope with their society. I enjoyed seeing the characters grow throughout the story and felt myself pulling for each of them. I didn't want the story to end. It left me wanting to know more.

I really enjoyed this book even though I am not a fan of fantasy. I don't feel that you can ever go wrong when choosing a Newberry winner. I enjoyed the story, the writing, and the character development. There were a lot of lessons to be learned from each character and their individual perspectives. The power of faith, love, and family are what, in my opinion, drove the characters throughout the story.

I really enjoyed this book. I am usually a reader of Danielle Steele and the like but was in the mood for something different. I picked this up while traveling and am so glad I did. It was a 'whodunit' of sorts but also read like a coming of age book. It also had tones of a young adult book. I also had to remind myself that this was a work of fiction because it also read like a memoir. Still, I thoroughly enjoyed the story. The innocence took me back to my carefree days of running the neighborhood when I was a child in eastern NC.

The story is told entirely by the narrator and we never learn his name. I didn't even realize that until the end when I was trying to recollect my thoughts. The story is set in Baton Rouge, LA and the author, Walsh, described it with such great detail that I found myself transported to the street where the characters lived. I loved the character development and found myself rooting for them all in different ways. I also loved the flow of the story and almost forgot that a crime had been committed. I never felt that the story needed to hurry along and was satisfied with the closure. I don't feel that I was left hanging and wondering.

Do you ever read a book and think, "Wow, that really spoke to me even though my life is nothing like that?" Well, this book did it for me. There were so many subtle, profound lines and revelations that it made me think and wonder about different things. I can't wait to read more from M.O. Walsh to see what else I can learn about life.

I found this book to be cute and fun more than deep and meaningful.

I had seen this book so many times but kept walking by because I don't usually read thrillers. They seem to stay with me and freak me out longer than they should. Well, my daughter read it and said it was really good so I gave it a go. I really, really liked it. It was suspenseful enough to keep me wanting more. It wasn't creepy, it didn't make me want to always look over my shoulder, and I was still able to sleep at night. I absolutely loved the character development and how they weaved together but what I loved the most was that you didn't really know what happened until the VERY LAST SENTENCE!!!

If you like thrillers, or are thinking you want to start reading them, then this is a great read!
