The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater

As with my first time reading this book, this wasn't my favourite of the series. Mainly because it felt like we pushed Glendower aside and explored more of Ronan's dreams, but also because it felt like the relationships among the characters weren't the main focus.

Adding to that, wasn't a massive fan of this book's villain (if he can be called that) contrary to how much I had enjoyed reading about their Latin teacher in the first one.

Fave scene though, has to be the Gansey and Blue under the stars moment 🫢🫢

Lost me entirely all the million times Emma tried to rebuff or change the subject and Justin kept pushing her to get his way.

When after sex a woman is putting on her clothes a couple of steps away from you, with her back turned the opposite direction from where you are, she's evidently trying to emotionally regulate herself. What did Justin do? He went up to Emma, invaded her personal space, hugged her, nuzzled her ear and started talking about dinner and all the options of food they could have. Emma said that she'd be getting back to him. A firm but polite "no". Justin kept pressing, saying he could bring it to her and she had to physically remove herself from his hug and say that she needed a minute to think.

All this happened literally 100 pages before the book ended. I don't even wanna mention all the times it happened before. Justin isn't a "if he wanted to, he would", he's a man without enough emotional intelligence to understand and respect someone setting boundaries.

THIS BOOK!

It found me, not the other way around. And I feel like I read at a moment in my life when I was fully ready for it, I laughed and cried, especially towards the end. There's some parts that resonated with me so SO much and on one hand, it was a lovely reading experience, on the other hand I wish it didn't resonate as much with me.

The writing style was absolutely BEAUTIFUL, Gray wrote as if her life was depending on it and I will DEFINITELY be reading everything she writes.

Seriously, I have NO IDEA who the Niki was that read this book in 2019, was a petty ass bitch saying how slow it was an rated it 3 stars.

Rereading it this past week has been ABSOLUTELY AMAZING, I was hooked, I couldn't stop reading and I just fell in love with this world again!

Uuuughhhh now on to book 2!!

This was EXACTLY the romance I needed and I'm so glad it met all my expectations and I cannot WAIT to read the rest of the books in the series!

The nickname "sugar" did irk me though, buuuut we'll choose to look past this!

Minus 1 star because
the sex scene at the bar during Teddy's birthday didn't really sit well with me. I get Luke's need to protect Emmy and all that, but grabbing a woman over his shoulder like a Neanderthal (exactly like the author herself pointed out) felt like out of tone compared to the rest of the book

This is a 4.5 simply because I wasn't expecting it to end! I wanted more adventures for these people and I feel like it kinda wrapped up pretty quickly!

I found this by accident and I absolutely ADORED IT, such an intriguing concept!

This was oddly comforting and I wasn't expecting that from a book that was supposedly about a ruthless assassin πŸ˜…

Honestly though, I had a good time reading it and I will be continuing with the series at soooome point (no one knows when πŸ™ˆ). I found it a bit hard to root for such an unlikable main character though, I don't know why Maas wrote her this way, cause she's not relatable one bit and I couldn't find it in myself to like her AT ALL πŸ˜…

Plus, I think this felt so cozy because Maas was probably more focused on utilising the "found family" trope than actually make the plot thrilling, cause literally Chaol and Celaena were galavanting about on day 2 of their encounter and I was like "excuse me sir, isn't she a fucking ASSASSIN????" 🀯

So yeah, no thrill, no stakes, just a teenage girl that apparently is so notorious that we have to be TOLD of all her accomplishments instead of SHOWN.

This was absolutely marvellous, if a bit disturbing at times. Enriquez paints an Argentina that's simultaneously horrid and awfully beautiful and she is very slowly becoming one of my favourite authors.

Im really glad I gave this book another chance, albeit more than a year later πŸ˜…

This was soooo bridgerton coded and I feel like this is why I enjoyed it so much! Kinda disappointed it's not a standalone though, as I'm not very keen to read a series right now. Overall though, it was a lovely read, quite suspenseful, if a little slow sometimes.

For some reason the romance didn't interest me AT ALL, plus I don't understand how Signa can be a reaper too, since there's only one death πŸ˜…

One silly thing that annoyed me a little bit, was how often Signa mentioned that damned etiquette book πŸ˜… It threw me off eeeeevery single time πŸ˜
