The Guinevere Deception by Kiersten White

Boy, this is a prime and shining example of a pretty cover doesn't always make a good book.

I just found everything about this to be boring. I don't mind a well done slow-burn story but at almost every moment I kept asking myself, "When is something actually going to happen?"

Doubtful I'll pick up the second and third book in this.

I'm sure there's great Arthurian retellings out there, right?

Was I too stupid to understand this?

Despite some of the larger flaws I found within the story, (like it's not as ~feminist~ as it thinks it is) I still found myself caught up in The Grace Year and devoured the story in about a day.

I think it could have benefited from some shifts in the plot, such as focusing on the banished women vs. the poachers and not relied on basic YA tropes such as a love triangle, but yeaaaa.

This is definitely one of those books I want to revisit in about 6 months to a year and see if I'm still enamored with it. As of now, I really enjoyed it.

I hope the movie comes out of production hell because it has the potential to make a really good film.

This is probably my favorite of the three - mostly because I found Eve the most relatable of them all due to her life struggles.

Also, I listened to this as an audio book and it was a little too much for me for some reason, LOL.

While nothing mind blowing I still found myself completely wrapped up and engaged with this, so much so that I finished it in a day.

This was absolutely a blast and I will happily devour anything else Montell publishes!

Eventually I forgot that Lin-Manuel Miranda was the narrator, thank god.

This was sweet and I could definitely see it becoming a comfort read for someone.

I loved this so much that I promptly finished the audio and went to the library to pick up the second one because that audio wasn't available on Libby. :(

This is such beautiful and enchanting writing and I made the mistake of listening to it while working. I was so caught up in it that I would find myself pausing what I was working on to fully give the story my attention.

Vo is exceptional at putting you into what feels like a fully constructed world with such few pages and I wanted to live there forever.

idk if I could in good faith actually recommend this to anyone but if you genuinely like horror, blood, gore, violence, and about most other content warnings you could think of then you might like this! I applaud for two volumes of manga to get me to feel so emotionally about a large cast of characters, though it might be cheating since they're all children.
