I never had to read animal farm for school so decided I'd listen to the audiobook to and from work. While I understand the message being told, I found the book to be kind of confusing and boring for the list part. Maybe knowing the pigs are corrupt before reading lended the book to having less plot than it would have had I not known, but I wouldn't say it was too exciting. Overall thought thought it was a good book and that I'd give it another listen at some point.

Icebreaker was a book on my the for a long time. I thoroughly enjoyed the relationships within the book, romantic, platonic and familial. The team felt like a true team as did the friendships, and the families felt the way I imagined they'd be in these circumstances. I think it was a very solid book, but only wish that they focused on Mickey's anxiety and depression rather than only his depression. I wouldn't be opposed to a sequel following the next year or a few years down the line.

Angels Before Man had a very promising premise, but inevitably fell flat. I loved the idea of a queer retelling of Lucifer's fall from heaven, but I didn't expect it to be so boring. I knew that there would be lots of religious talk and imagery based on the concept, but most of the book was just Lucifer prising God and worshipping both him and Michael. I wished that there was more conflict and romance throughout the book. This felt like an okay fanfiction that I'd read on AO3, but with better cover art and grammar. I would pick this book up again in the future if I felt like it, but at the moment have Jo desire to reread it. I was able to skip a few pages at a time without feeling like I missed anything. The book could have been cut shorter with some details taken out and I think that would have made it more exciting.

call me by your name is a book that I DNFd years ago. I couldn't get into the book and found myself unable to enjoy it. I picked it back up for a book club read and found myself able to finish it, but still unable to enjoy it. I found that their relationship was not one of fantasy or a beautiful one, it was complicated and messy. I didn't think it was worth my time to be reading about Elios obsession with Oliver and their sex. There were some good quotes in the book, but I otherwise found this to be uncomfortable, stupid, and unnecessary. The age gap is uncomfortable and adds nothing to the story but to make it controversial. The question of if a 17 year old and a 24 year old can be soulmates is gross and adds nothing to the story other than questionable morals from every character involved. Would not read again, do not recommend.

normal people was a book that didn't live up to the hype. I didn't enjoy the plot of the characters. I didn't view it as a will they won't they relationship, but instead as a toxic on and off friends with benefits. most of their problems could be avoided, and those that can't weren't necessarily handled well. this is not reminiscent of everyday life and I felt that it was a pretentious take on life. I also found it quite boring.

The Song of Achilles was so good. I loved the romance between Achilles and Patroclus, and how it began as adolescent crushes into adulthood love. They confided in each other for most of their choices, only struggling together when Achilles begins to feel more pressure from the prophecy. I wish there was more of them during their time with Chiron, but I enjoyed how their relationship flourished. Patroclus dying in Achilles armor and Briseis yelling at Achilles after was one of my favorite parts, because you can see how losing Patroclus is what made Achilles come back to himself while also losing his will to live. Thetis spending Achilles whole like hating Patroclus, only to be the one to bring them back together and put Patroclus to rest was something I thought was very well done. All in all I think the book is done amazingly and deserves the hype that it gets.

Ace of Shades at first wasn't too exciting, but I became more engrossed into the book. It didn't interest me enough to continue the series, but I did think that it was entertaining. I liked the characters and how they interacted with each other and the world. I thought the worldbuilding was done well, as well as the political system though the political history felt a little confusing. The shadow game, Enne, and Lords was the plotline i was most interested in, while I feel am bothers were more interested in the romance. I liked the character development that we saw within Enne specifically during her time in the city. I wouldn't recommend the book to others, but if someone says it sounds interesting it wouldn't hurt to read it

Circe was a book that I was excited to read from the beginning, but getting into the book realized how truly beautiful it was. Circe is written as more than a lover to Odysseus and more than just a mother. She's written to where her character development happens slowly and over time, but by the end of the book her you get self would've been unable to recognize her. Her eventually outgrowung her exile and being able to travel the world and share her witchcraft with others I think was the best way to end the story. Circe was treated so bad for so long, and seeing her be able to get her happy ending was something that I thoroughly enjoyed.
