Woman at Point Zero by Nawal El Saadawi
4.5
I came across this book through the StoryGraph Reads the World challenge, and I’m so glad I joined. Set in Cairo, Egypt, it offered me a glimpse into a world far from my own in the Netherlands —both geographically and historically. The story delivers a powerful message about patriarchy and the influence of men on society. Knowing it's based on real events makes it even more impactful. While my own country has made progress, it's still far from perfect, and the issues in this book remain a reality for many women, such as those in Afghanistan. This is a very important book to read, for everyone.

What a story. All the pieces fell into place. Amazingly written and so well thought out!👏

Straight white man complaining about a lot and finding himself amazing.
Would be quite funny if it was satire.
The sexism in the end was just unnecessary...

Sterk in informatief boek. Het boek kwam al een tijdje uit en wat ongelooflijk tof om een aantal jaar na dit boek te zien dat de schrijfster gaat emigreren en enorm gegroeid is. Enorm sterk boek, echt een aanrader!

I have quite some mixed feelings about this book... First up I really liked the concept and the very flawed characters. However it did felt like the author was going for the standerd pretentious lit fic (weird girl) writing style but missing that point completely. So overal was quite a basic book. A bit in the middle so a 3 star
