“I’m basically driven by a mixture of caffeine and familial guilt.”
I really wanted to love this part murder, part romantic comedy but it didn’t really deliver on any of those things well.
I hate insta love and this was 100% that. I struggled with the MC and the whole thing was just sort of ridiculous.

“I realized that I was impressionable, that I liked a good murder.”
Okay, read through one is complete. Still confused as hell.
Pretty sure one of the POVs is a dog(?!). Is Henry the dog? Is there two Henry’s?
Up next: figuring out the order of the pages.

3.5/4 I don’t know, this one is hard to rate.
“If you ever loved me, it was only because I was a soft thing you threw down the bottom of a pit to break your fall.”
“Any predator can choose to smile without teeth.”
“… my first secret, my first lie, safe as death.”
The description of a gothic, dark fairy tale did not disappoint (it was darker than I imagined still). The prose and imagery are fantastic.
What I didn’t like: the romance (felt thin and very much insta-love), I struggled with the MC (who couldn’t help but talk about how plain faced she was all the time), the overt sexualization was ALOT at times, and the endless repetition of the same words and phrases. I still have a few questions at the end.

“Too ignorant to be scared, too young to be awed, Tristan Thorn passed beyond the fields we know … and into Faerie.”
An absolutely magical, timeless read. A forever favorite.

Absolutely charming, the art style is great but I’m dying over not have the next three immediately. Such a comforting, adorable read.
Tori is amazing.

“I thought… I just really liked you as a friend…”
The bisexual panic is WAY too real and relatable. I am obsessed with this volume, definitely my favorite so far.

“I cannot just kiss you tonight and forget it tomorrow.”
“Eddie was starting to suspect that her stupidity knew no bounds.”
“I’m certainly finding this educational.”
Beautiful prose, dry wit, a dumbass bi MC (highly relatable), and a charming end.
I love Reputation (read it twice in a year) but I love this even more.
Slightly predictable but thoroughly enjoyable nonetheless.

“Do you hear that Coriolanus? It’s the sound of Snow falling.”
“All your fine manners, education, family, background, everything you pride yourself on, stripped away in the blink of an eye, revealing everything you actually are… That’s mankind in its natural state.”
The pacing of this book felt off. The beginning took a while to get going and the wrap up (while amazing) felt all too short.
I liked so much of this: the formation of the games, the development of a tyrant, the importance of love doesn’t conqueror all, the badassery of Lucy Gray, rat poison, and the origin of The Hanging Tree.

“Sometimes it’s worth taking a risk.”
“Oh your being gay. Good job carry on.”
The scene of the teachers talking about coming out later in life nearly got me to cry.
These just keep getting better.
I adore Darci.

“But also knowing that… sometimes people need more support then just one person can give. That’s love darling.”
This both hurt my heart and healed it. Fantastic discussion of mental illness and how you can’t love away a partners mental health issues.
Tori is a queen.
