I really enjoyed this book. It was fun, different, kinda dark, and even a bit mysterious. Some aspects of tbe love story were a bit cringy or maybe meant for a younger audience, lol. But other than that I was super into the story.
I found this book a couple of years ago, started it, but never finished. Well, I finished it now as an audiobook.
What an informative and important book! Obviously, I already knew a lot of data gaps that exist between genders. But honestly, it is shocking, how male-centric the world actually is, when you start to dig deeper.
One of the more memorable points that the book made was that for some reason we treat 50% of the population of the world as a minority. Women are not a minority, we are half to worldβs population and it is unacceptable that we donβt treat women as such.
Definitely recommend this book to everyone especially men.
This read was so captivating, the writing was enchanting. The whole book was written in second person and while it was a bit odd at first, it actually ended up being the reason I was sucked into the story so fast.
36% into the book I wrote a note: This book is beautiful. Iβve never been one to really care about beautiful writing or prose, but I think I get it now. This love story is so normal, normal people in their normal lives doing normal things, but somehow the author has written it to be so beautiful and captivating. I canβt stop reading it and I canβt get my mind off of it.
The second half of the book got more serious and more serious themes emerged, like police brutality and mental health. It gave me a completely new perspective and deeper understanding of what so many Black people deal with and have to go through in their everyday lives. The quote βItβs one thing to be looked at, and another to be seen.β really hits hard.
After reading the last chapter and the last words of the book I just burst into tears. Partially from being happy, partially from being sad, partially from being relieved.
Overall, this is probably the most beautifully written book I have ever read.
Kingdom of Ash (Throne of Glass #7) by Sarah J. Maas

And just like that I am done with this whole series.
This book was sooo long, and I honestly think it couldβve been at least 200 pages shorter.
Just like with EoS I felt like some of the help our characters got was almost too convenient. Always showing up EXACTLY when needed, always another trick up their sleeve.
The story was still impactful and having to say goodbye to these characters made me emotional. I am extra emotional about the characters we lost π₯Ί
This whole series was such a journey. I am part of the minority tho that liked the beginning of this series more than the end. My favorite books are still Throne of Glass and Crown of Midnight.
If youβve been wondering if you should this series or not, Iβd definitely say to give it a try, because you might end up on this long and exciting journey.
Tower of Dawn (Throne of Glass #6) by Sarah J. Maas

Finished the tandem read and I am so happy that I chose to read the two books at the same time. I feel like they balanced each other out very nicely, so I definitely would recommend doing a tandem.
I donβt understand why people skip this book, after finishing the book it truly feels like an important part of the series. Itβs a story about healing, acceptance, and on top of that we get to discover a new continent with very interesting culture, background, and history.
I liked the pacing of the book, at least in the tandem read it felt perfect. Iβm enjoying meeting some people we have met in the past books, and I cannot wait for the upcoming reunions in the next book.
I will say, as I also said in my last review, some things feel a bit too convenient, a bit too connected, and once again we have so many couples. I wish not everything worked out so perfectly, conveniently, and also repetitively compared to her other books. In this book, it did not overshadow the story of healing and this interesting new land that we were discovering.
So overall a four star read, and I am pumped to start the last book of the series Kingdom of Ash.
Empire of Storms (Throne of Glass #5) by Sarah J. Maas

β οΈ SPOILERS β οΈ
Empire of Storms is a lot of readers favorite or at least TOP 2 book of the series. In all honesty, I have definitely enjoyed the others more. So much is happening in this book, that I am getting whiplash from all the scheming and secrets and love interest and different couplesβ¦
Did I still enjoy this book? Yes. But there are things that bothered me.
Up until this book we have had no spice, only suggestive or closed door romance. I think for this series that fit, and I feel like the sex scenes were too much, and they honestly just made me disconnect from the book. I found myself wanting to skip scenes cause I was like βugh whatever.β
The second thing that bothered me was that everyone is paired up, has a love interest or more. What do you mean we now have seven couples in the series? Can we just focus on getting our home kingdom back without EVERYONE falling in love or lusting for someone?
I also feel like the series that I have loved so much is turning into the same type of series as ACOTAR. And I enjoyed ACOMAF, but I knew what I signed up for in those books. Here it just feels out of place, repetitive and honestly just meh. I did sense this shift happening after the first two books, but now it has full on turned into the same thing.
Overall, Iβm still giving it a 3 1/2 star read because I did still enjoy the story and I am already invested in the lives of our characters, so thatβs what saved the star rating.
Also, I definitely am an advocate for the tandem read!!!
The Hundred Yearsβ War on Palestine by Rashid Khalidi
It feels weird giving a book about an on going genocide a star rating so Iβm skipping that. But overall this was so educational, sad, upsetting, and eye opening. I listened to the audiobook, and can recommend!
Before last October I had the privilege of never really having to think much about Palestine and Israel and what has been going on there for over a century. Which also means that I had no clue what it was all about and where it started. I am from the EU, so the information Iβve gotten my whole life is more Israel centered. This book is a great overview of the history of Palestine and all the events that lead us to where we are today.
It is scary how powerful countries can erase and replace history. We have seen it before and we are seeing it happen again right in front of our eyes. ππ΅πΈ
