This is a tough one for me to rate because as a love story, it’s maybe 3 stars. As a story of a woman navigating loss and grief and trying to rebuild relationships with her family it’s a definite 5 stars.
Maybe it’s because I’ve been stuck in a grief headspace lately, but seeing Florence navigate the loss of her father broke and healed me.
Benji was a bit one dimensional and made it hard for me to fall for him. I will say, despite knowing that this is a romance, the twist at the end actually got me because I had already come to terms with their love story being impossible.
For a book where the main character constantly talks about how she loves sex, the actual sex scenes are shockingly boring.
I appreciated the mental health representation even if the whole chapter with her mom showing up was kind of pointless and didn’t move the plot forward in any way.
It’s fine I guess. Not world changing, but not a bad book. I wouldn’t go seek out another by this author, but it’s fine.
After seeing how much better book 2 was than book 1, I had high hopes for ending the series with more improvement. But honestly it was just kind of meh.
The 180 that Apollo takes from being a handsome, albeit kind of boring prince to being an obsessive murderer will give you whiplash. Jacks is not as involved in the book as I would like, especially since it is multi-POV. I do like seeing Evangeline grapple with her lost memory and try to come to terms with separating the truth from what she is told
So many plot holes are left open. Like what happened with Castor and all the murder? Why didn’t LaLa find her true love if that was what had made her a fate to begin with? Why was Aurora such a goddamn obnoxious character?
Overall, I’m glad I finished the series, I love the world that was built throughout it, and I just have to accept that maybe Stephanie Garber isn’t for me.

I found this so much more engrossing than the first in the series! Yes, Evangeline is still an annoyingly naive heroine, but she improved since the last book. Seriously though girl, if you know a man is trying to kill you, why do you keep thinking maybe this time he won’t shoot/stab/strangle you??? Like COME ON.
But the world is so beautiful and the lore being built into the fables of the North bring me so much joy. The end was twist after twist and left me so frustrated, but luckily the next book is already available.
Similar to the first book, this is a fun witchy romance with mystery undertones. I saw someone describe it as Halloweentown for grownups and that is really the easiest way to sum it up.
The redemption arc for Astaroth from the end of book one throughout book two was surprisingly enjoyable! I loved seeing his appreciation for the parts of Calladia that her mother always put down/
The puns are 10/10 and the swiftie representation was appreciated throughout the book.
Like book one the ending felt rushed, but I enjoyed it and overall it was a good read. Just curious though, does the author have beef with her own mom? Cause man the mothers in this series have all been nightmares.

Well. This was a book. Am I irritated that it’s not the last in the series? Yep. Will I read the next one? Probably. While the first two in the series weren’t my favourite reads, I really did enjoy them. Sadly, this was just a disappointment with way too much incohesive plot .
Too much love triangle, too much immature heroine. Not enough cool animal sidekicks. Not enough Grim, not enough Oro. But seriously, either get past the goddamn cringe love triangle or let her have both.
Things I liked: Lynx, Wraith, the blacksmith (and his ties to her past).

Rebecca Ross creates the most beautiful magical worlds and has such a talent for immersing you right away without a long drawn out backstory.
I am so attached to all the characters in this book and feel like I’ve lost friends now that it’s over. The relationship between Sidra and Torin was such a lovely evolution without being overly sentimental. And, while I know Jack’s relationship with Adaira was also wonderful, I was most invested in his love for Frae and his mother.
This book had its slow moments, but it was an amazing escape and I can honestly say the twist at the end surprised me. I can’t wait to read the next one!
Adalyn Grace knows how to write relationships. Whether it is the romance between Blythe and Fate (and Signa and Death) or the relationship Blythe has with her father and cousin, it hits me right in the heart. For any K-drama fans, this is so similar to Goblin both in plot and emotional impact.
This is a slow burn, but I loved seeing Blythe and Fate come together. I just wish they had more time together.
The antagonist felt a bit two dimensional in this book and left a few questions unanswered, but otherwise no complaints!
I cried. A lot. And definitely plan to re-read as soon as I’m emotionally ready.

I wanted to love it. I mean it’s a Rapunzel retelling with vampires, that has to be amazing right? Nope, I cannot handle a damsel in distress and that is all she was the whole book. Even when she was technically saving the day, it felt like it was entirely by accident.
Plus, what isolated, locked up, afraid of the world 19 year old is going to meet a vampire (after being told her whole life they are dangerous) and be like “Sure he seems nice, let’s go to his castle!”
The sex scenes were so bad, they should have just been closed door. It would have been more forgivable that way.
The only thing that redeems this book for me is the spider familiar. That was a surprisingly cool twist and was the only thing that made me finish it.
Overall, could have been great. I hope the author rewrites it in 10+ years.
