Another heartfelt narrative that resonates long after the final page by Kawaguchi! This one is an exploration of the profound impact of unfinished business and the desire for closure. The novel invites readers to ponder existential questions about life's fleeting moments and the significance of our relationships with others.
The author's narrative style is immersive, weaving together multiple perspectives and timelines with seamless transitions. Each chapter reveals deeper layers of the characters' emotional landscapes, drawing readers into their personal journeys of reconciliation and acceptance.
I can't wait til the next book comes out in November!!!

And anotha' one! Toshikazu Kawaguchi brings us a delightful collection of interconnected short stories that weave together the lives of patrons who visit a mysterious cafe where time stands still. Kawaguchi once again captivated me with his unique blend of magical realism and heartfelt human drama. He showcases his ability to enchant and provoke thought in equal measure.
This author has my heart! The book is a poignant and thought-provoking exploration of memory, loss, and the profound impact of our choices on our lives. Following his previous successes in blending magical realism with deep human emotion, Kawaguchi once again delivers a compelling narrative that engages both the heart and the mind. For readers who appreciate stories that delve into the complexities of human experience with compassion and insight, this novel will be a great addition to their bookshelves!
This is an absolute gem of a book! Toshikazu Kawaguchi's writing is nothing short of magical, giving you captivating stories that linger in the mind and tug at the heartstrings. Each character's journey is beautifully crafted, drawing you deeper into their hopes, dreams, and regrets.
This book retains the action-packed adventure that made its predecessor a hit, it also delves deeper into philosophical questions about the nature of consciousness, empathy, and the impact of virtual experiences on human relationships. The characters, including familiar faces and new additions, undergo significant growth as they navigate the moral complexities of the OASIS and its transformative effects on society.
I was onboard with the darker themes and moral ambiguity that made the story stand out from the previous book in the series! Whether you're a fan of the first novel or intrigued by the possibilities of virtual reality storytelling, this sequel delivers an engaging blend of adventure, nostalgia, and thought-provoking commentary on the future of technology.

I know I am late to the party on this book but hey, so many books so little time.
The narrative was fast-paced and engaging and drew me in immediately. Its a vivid depiction of a society where virtual reality has become intertwined with daily life, while exploring themes of escapism, identity, and the consequences of unchecked corporate power. Cline's world-building is meticulous, creating a richly detailed universe that feels both fantastical and EERILY plausible. The characters are well-developed and relatable.
Unrelated but related, if you haven't seen the movie don't bother. It's awful!

I've read this book twice now and I loved it the second time as much as the first time!
This is a spellbinding fantasy novel that transports readers to a universe where multiple parallel Londons exist, each with its own unique magical abilities and dangers. Schwab, known for her skillful world-building and complex characters, weaves a tale of adventure, intrigue, and the struggle for power across these enchanting yet treacherous realms.
This is not merely a tale of fantastical realms and epic quests; it is a testament to Schwab's mastery of storytelling, where intricate plot twists and nuanced character development kept me captivated until the final page!

I don't know that I have ever angrily turned pages in a book before until this one. I honestly just wanted it to be over so I could move on. I'm not a big believer in DNFing a book so I suffered to get thru this one. I feel like the author was a big fan of the Narnia series and Harry Potter and decided to give us the Temu version of that mash up.
The story never quite finds its footing, meandering through uninspired magical lessons and aimless teenage angst. Grossman's world-building lacks depth and originality, borrowing heavily from established fantasy works without adding anything new or compelling. The magical elements feel derivative and uninspired, failing to evoke a sense of wonder or intrigue. The pacing is uneven, with long stretches of tedious exposition and awkward dialogue that do little to advance the plot or deepen our understanding of the characters.
I found the novel to be a a tedious and forgettable journey through a world that never fully comes to life.

This is a story I didn't know I needed til I read it. This is the kind of world and character building I crave! This is one of those times where I want a prequel, a huge series and a movie!
This book is a mesmerizing, darkly enchanting world where power, betrayal, and ambition reign supreme. From the very first page, you are ensnared with intricate storytelling, creating a faerie realm that is both beautiful and brutal.

This was a cute and quick read. Nothing special or unpredictable but a casual fun read.
