The Viscount Who Loved Me by Julia Quinn

There was no way that I could swoon for Anthony Bridgerton. I couldn't picture a life in the early 1800s where women were deemed property. And to be deemed the property of Anthony Bridgerton is disgusting. The scene where he was openly flirting with the opera singer ground my gears. He is the worst Bridgerton.

I usually do not say this, but the show was far better than the books. The show took a lot of creative liberties that are way better and more dramatic. That Anthony Bridgerton I could tolerate.

There is a reason why I don't read historical romances, and this book writes about it. Men in history are horrible and I don't like to be reminded of it. Every time Simon or Anthony and a little bit of Collin would try to pose some type of ownership and dominance towards Daphne, I got the ick.
However, I try to look past men to enjoy the story. Which I did, and I am glad I did. The story was very romantic. I loved the one-liners that I regrettably swooned over.

I started reading this book because I didn't want to wait for season 3 of Bridgerton. It was interesting to see the differences the show made compared to the book. Because I watched the show first, I kept getting the feeling that I knew what was going to be coming next, but I was pleasantly surprised when the scene wasn't the same.

I really wanted to like this book. I thought the concept was cute and interesting. However, I felt like for the first 100 pages, I learned more about the side characters than the actual main characters. I know that Cassie and Reid's careers are important to them, but I felt like I wanted to know about their romance versus everyone else's lives. I got bored waiting, and this book is only a little over 300 pages!

Every time I try to write something about this book, I feel I get tongue-tied. It was amazing. So emotional and heart-wrenching. I loved it.
The little story about Adelaide made me hope it was real (I was so sad when I googled and it wasn't 🤣). I wanted more of that because the story of Joan of Arc is such a tragedy, I wanted reality to have an ounce of a happy ending, even if it wasn't for Joan.

This book was sweet and refreshing. Especially if you read a lot of dark or smutty stories.
it is kind of like breathing clean air after being stuck in a cave with a bunch of cavemen for months.
The characters had their own lives and dreams that were stifled because of their families or love interests but still found a way to pursue them in the end. I truly loved that.
Karthik is the best! Compared to the usual behemoth type I usually read about, Karthik is a gentleman disguised as a robot and I think that is my new favorite type of MMC.
Meghna was so relatable, It hurt. I loved her so much! I already knew that the love interest before Karthik wasn't going to be it for her because she described Seth as "lanky". But when she describes Karthik it's like she just discovered reality TV.

I have to say that this book teased me. For around 300 pages, I thought they would have gotten together faster (Based on my history of short books). There were moments when they should have! But it was slow, in the best way! I hated it when they would get so close, but the reality of their agreement would hit them in the face so hard that everything went backward.

Also, the moment they did finally get together was very anticlimactic for me. I thought the book would be spicier so that is my fault to assume. It's as if I expected a rated-R movie, but ended up watching something PG-13.

I liked the story, but it felt like for over 500-600 pages nothing was happening, then a cluster bomb of crap happens out of nowhere. The buildup didn't blend well with the ultimate events of the book for me. It was like watching episode after episode of a show then the season finale was all the action I wanted from the entire series.

As much as I would love to see what happens next in the series, I don't think I can read another 800 pages of nothing happening. At this point, I rather read the cliff notes in a couple of months when the dust settles.

The covers for this series are top-tier. I think that's one of the reasons why I picked up the first book and it is the reason I picked up the second. The story was really cute, but I couldn’t get it out of my head that she’s a curvy Taylor Swift (even though Taylor Swift is mentioned in the book).
I also dislike books where there is music involved and there are lyrics that are kind of bad and I can’t see how it fits with music (but that is a me thing, do you).
I loved Declan, but he was a major mother hen. I understood that he was worried about her, but it stopped being romantic to me when he would constantly tell her she needed rest.  Good advice, of course…but it bordered nagging. However, a burnt cinnamon roll is a good description of what he is and I loved it.

I love how this book had a trigger warning: fluff trigger warning. 🤣 I enjoyed it. I loved the little puns with the rooster names. The characters were cute and very animated. I would consider this book a palette cleanser after I've read something dark or a heavy fantasy book. It put me in a good mood instantly! I love a plus-size-curvy F.M.C and a sexy behemoth who loves everything about her. It's my favorite trope!

I loved this book. Normally I don't read books with kids in them, but Noah and Beth's relationship made me tear up. They shared so much trauma and they clung to each other. Gah.
Angelo is the best! I think it's because of K-Dramas that the second male lead (even though he's the main character, he was mentioned in the first book and I instantly got attached to him) is my favorite.
The fact that he was built like a giant caveman and yet wasn't as bad as Vincent from the first book was the best part for me. He knew he wanted Beth but he didn't push and treat her like crap.
I enjoyed the suspense and the dark twist. It added to the story very well.

loved it!

The whole ex-mafia turned good guy for his daughter is a really good storyline. However, I don't usually like reading books with kids. Mainly because the focus and outcomes usually factor on them. Every decision, reaction, and emotion will have them in it. I usually like my romances to be about the people in that romance. However, I thought this story was interesting. I kept reading because I wanted to see what happened next.

I wasn't a fan of the main characters. Vincent gave me the ick so hard and I am not even sure why. He was just too much of a caveman. It's also probably his name. 🤣I wanted something exotic and not just the feeling it is because he's so hot. 🤣

Sasha was great. I think she was the right person in every situation. However, she was constantly berated by this man, but because the sex was good she forgot. At least let him sweat a little bit more.
