“You’re so drunk.” “No. I’m buzzed.” “What’s the square root of 64?” “Eight, fuck you very much.” He shrugs. “Sober enough.” - Lauren Asher 🍸

Umm not sure I enjoyed the set up of this one as much as the first. The whole fake proposal was a bit weird and make me feel a bit weird about our main girly. Which is a shame…cuz she’s pretty cool. 😎
I didn’t warm to Declan at all really. Obviously there were moments when I giggled, and the ending was lovely. But he lacked depth, there really wasn’t much to uncover or explore. He’s just grumpy & liked Iris off the bat. 🤷🏻♀️
I liked that we got some more family dynamics, not an awful lot surrounding Dreamland/the business though. Overall, another easy & chill read but I’m not quite feeling the love from this series 🤔
“Do you make it a habit to compliment everyone who’s trying to kill you?” “Not everyone.” His eyes flashed with a hint of amusement. “Just you.” - Thea Guanzon 🗡️

Well, it looks like I enjoy a Reylo inspired romantasy 🤷🏻♀️ This book got a lot of hype before publication & then seemed to get quite a range of reviews so I kinda put off reading it 🙈 but it was a lot of fun.
I was super engaged straight off the bat by the world building, the war, the islands & the history behind light weaving - I can’t wait to learn more. Big clap for the audiobook for captivating me enough to move to physical (it’s rare for me with fantasy audio)🔥
The sizzle between Talasyn & Alaric had me speed reading! I couldn’t wait for their scenes together. I kinda wish we got a bit more time, but I love a slow burn so I approve 💖
I’d have liked a bit more time in Alarics POV to understand his world & background a little more, but I’m sure that’s coming in book 2. Overall, great. Just wish there was a bit more of everything ✨
‘If this were my last moment alive, how would I want it to be?’ - Elsie Silver 🕊️

I can see why Elsie’s books are so well loved. The banter between Rhett and Summer was so cute 💕
Summer was one of my fav main girls in a long time. She was super strong and unapologetic, and her relationship with Rhett’s family was perfect 🪵
This was my first cowboy romance, so I was excited for cozy, ranch vibes. But I’m sorry…bull riding is barbaric and there’s simply no romanticising it 💀
‘Quinn looked to the horizon as the cornstalks swayed with the breeze. The corn itself could have been waving hello, or it could have been breathing’ - Adam Cesare 🌽

I LOVE a good slasher. They’re my fav kind of horror movie, but a rare find in books. So I JUMPED on this, the title, the cover - perfect. For a YA horror, this book is terrific, a must read for blood lovers 🤡
The cornfield, the old barn and silo, the small town. A perfect setting for a clown slasher. Adam did a great job at building tension with the descriptions, the movements, the injuries 🔪 deadly!
For me, it was so close to being a new favourite. It was a little slow to start, the action didn’t kick off until the 50% mark. For me, I didn’t feel connected enough to any characters to warrant the wait 🙈
Unmasking usually bring the tension right down - particularly in books. Adam did a great job at keeping the drama level high and the reveal was very relevant to society today. 🌾
If anyone has any slasher book recommendations, leave them in the comments 👻
“Mark my words, Prince, I will be your undoing.” I lean in, ignoring the knife against my throat as I murmur, “Oh, darling, I look forward to it” - Lauren Robert’s 🪡

If you know me, you know I’m a character driven reader. The characters in Powerless were 👌🏻 spot on. I love vicious Pae, her cut throat dagger and her not so ordinary story 💪🏻
I’m aware I didn’t need another dark love interest, but what can I say 🤷🏻♀️ I loved Kai. Their banter was top tier, I was speed reading through their scenes. 👀
The hunger games-eque trials weren’t as copy cat as other reviewers have made out. I think the issue is, they weren’t as interesting 😬 Considering they contained the majority of the action and murders…the middle section did get pretty slow at times. 💀
Strong opening, loveable characters, lots of tension, cool powers - also I ate that ending up! Can’t wait for the next book 💥
‘Oak desperately wants to stop Cardan from talking, but short of kicking him or throwing something at his head, he has no idea how’ - Holly Black 🗡️

I was so excited for an adult fantasy from Holly Black - and even better a spin off from The Folk of the Air trilogy! So I’m disappointed I didn’t fall in love with this new duology 😕
I loved Wren in book 1 (Stolen Heir) but we got so little of her in this second book. This book would’ve greatly benefited from her POV but I do understand what Black was trying to do giving them each their own book 💙
Oak didn’t hit for me…and any hint of romance was so underwhelming. The only scenes that peaked my attention were the brief cameos of Cardan and Jude - it kinda made me hate Oak a little 🙊
Maybe it didn’t help listening via audio but it felt like there was very little plot. Maybe it’s because I didn’t feel depth in any characters. Everything was very surface level. It was fine, I just had high hopes 🤷🏻♀️
‘There’s something in his expression that sends a chill down my spine. And then he shakes his head, almost imperceptibly. Almost like he’s trying to warn me. But he doesn’t say a word’ - Freida McFadden 😱

Oh I love a good thriller, and I can see why this one is so well loved. It was a really easy read. Nice short, punchy chapters. I flew through it in a couple of days. 📖
There was a nice amount of discomfort throughout, a few twists and I really loved the epilogue - which is rare for me 🌪️
If you’ve read a lot of thrillers, I’m sure you’ll piece things together but it didn’t take away from the experience for me. My only gripe was how quickly it all resolved at the end - a little TOO convenient but I get it. 👌🏻
