Girl, Interrupted by Susanna Kaysen

Wow.. what an amazing read this was. The true story about Susanna Kaysen and her journey with mental illness. I literally couldn't put the book down it was so good. I've seen the movie and I loved it, I'm so glad I finally got the book!

I love that Susanna inserted pages from her hospital file into the book too, (she got her 350 page hospital file through her lawyer). It's so fascinating reading all the notes the doctor's made and the assumptions they wrote down.

Just being thrown into a taxi cab and taken to a hospital for your mental illness must have been scary, it was the 60s I suppose and back then they were prone to throwing you away until you were "better", they put you away for so many ridiculous reasons. Compared to now; where they like to help you within the community as it benefits the individuals more, although there are still some cases where it is safer for the individual to be put into an institution for a while.

Susanna was diagnosed with a personality disorder, she was in the psychiatric hospital with a few girls called Lisa, Daisy, Polly, Cynthia and Georgina. All the girls had disorders such as Eating disorders and Schizophrenia; apart from Lisa, Lisa was a sociopath.

The book follows Susanna's journey at the psychiatric hospital alongside her friends that she made there. It follows her time at the hospital, her mental illness journey and her recovery to the outside world. You also get a little insight of the life of Lisa and Georgina who Susanna stayed in contact with after getting out of the hospital.

Such a wonderfully written book and parts of it are really relatable. I highly recommend it.

A boy who loves his mother, seeing her right there infront of him, but it's not really her. An entity that has sucked the life out of her.. a machine keeping her alive, rope gouges on her neck from the rope that held her in her bedroom. The love of a boy who wishes he looked at her more, but he didn't..  not enough to draw her eyes, the eyes that loved him.

Gordie, Chris, Vera and Teddy.. four boys from Castle Rock, Maine, heard about a young guy called Ray Bower who was apparently killed by a freight train and left there for dead. The boys decided to go on an adventure and find the body for themselves after Vern who was the blabber mouth of the group, was hiding under the porch at his house listening to his brother talk about it with another friend.

The boys walked for miles and miles to find the body; almost getting hut by a freight train themselves, hit by lightening and not to mention being eaten by leeches.

After finding the body Vern's brother and his friend turn up and they go apeshit that Vern is there, they know he was spying on their conversation. They also turned up with Eyeball Chambers (Chris' older brother) and local bad boy Ace Merrill.

Ace tries to act all sweet and caring to convince the four boys that they have dibs on the body first. The boys don't like that at all and they stand their ground and put them in their place... well arguing with them, taking the piss out Ace's mom oh and not to mention Chris pulling out a gun and shooting near them to get them to back off.

I really loved this short story, it's written like Gordie is telling the story. The story and the descriptions are really well written, you can picture what is going on.

I suggest you give this book a read!

An apocalypse has hit and there are Meat Zombies around. It all happened at a gathering with the mayor. One by one they were biting eachother and turning into zombies. Technology stopped working and the whole place was like something out of a movie.

A survivor named Emily watches and hides as everything is happening in front of her. The shock and the dismay at what she is witnessing. The meat zombies becoming one... one giant meat centipede.

The loss of her friend Monica leaves Emily alone; well she's not really alone, she has vines that seem to chase her and keep her company. Not that she wants company from vines that take you and end your life.

Emily wanders and hides from the vines, hoping to get somewhere safe to bide but the vines soon catch up to her.

Big Panda and Tiny Dragon go through the seasons with one another.

It is such a lovely book, it also has a self help book feel to it. The journey the two animals go on together, the emotion and peace you feel when reading the book is magical.

I love the quotes and phrases throughout the book, they make you feel so relaxed and calm.

The illustrations are also gorgeous.

I love a graphic novel! This one hit the spot!

It's an extremely relatable novel; I have an overactive mind, I overthink and then I get anxious.

The weirdness and the awkwardness.

Socks and Sam build a friendship which helps both of them to open up to one another.

Depression is a tough thing to deal with. Just opening up to someone is a huge deal, it's scary and it's worth it.

Thus Novel was such a great read, it was heartwarming and a happy read.

The second installment of the Aveline Jones series!

I loved the first book so much I HAD to get the second installment.

Aveline is on holiday in Norton Wick, where she finds some odd looking stones... the witches stones. On her journey she comes across a girl called Hazel. Hazel is a strange girl and disappears whenever she feels like it. She also shows Aveline some "magic" at the witches stones... but for some strange reason she won't set foot in Avelines garden at the cottage she is staying in.

Aveline's friend Harold and his great uncle and Aveline's aunt come and visit. Harold brings Aveline some books from his great uncles bookstore that Aveline asked for, he brings books about Norton Wick and Witch Stones.

Aveline finds out that Hazel I'd a witch who died in the Witch trials in the 1600s along with her older sister Alice. Alice warns Aveline about Hazel and how she isn't the nicest of people.

Hazel wants Aveline to stay with her in Norton Wick, Aveline declines the offer and Hazel is furious. Furious enough to use magic to try and convince Aveline that her family and friends don't want her around, nobody cares about her and to all round try and atop her from leaving.

With the help if Alice, Aveline and Harold make a witch bottle, (wherever the bottle is buried, a witch can not enter). Aveline uses magic herself that she seen Hazel do earlier at the witches stones to get safely away from Hazel and get back home in one piece.

I really enjoyed this book, its a great story and I can't wait for the third installment!

I love a graphic novel, this is the third I've read this year!

Josiah and Deja work at a pumpkin patch every halloween season; but thus year is different, it is their last season before they head off to college.

Josiah really likes a girl called Marcey who works in the fudge shoppe. And every season he talks about her but he's never met her. Deja twists his arm to go and talk to her but when they go to the fudge shoppe she isn't there, she had been asked to go to another shop. When they get there she isn't there either.

The pair go on a wild goose chase to fine Marcey. Josiah eventually find her on a ride, when he speaks to her he realises she isn't the one for him. She doesn't like Halloween, she doesn't like pumpkins or anything Josiah does. It makes him realise who he actually likes, who he spends every season working with, who he cares most about.... Deja.

Josiah jumps out the ride and goes to find Deja. He finds her and then they kiss.

I really loved this Graphic Novel! It wad such a heartwarming story, the illustrations are great too.
