This book didn't speak to me as much as I thought it would. I think the cover is adorable, but I don't enjoy how the book is written. I'm tired of the can't-come-out-as-gay trope, I live that in my everyday life so reading about it is not enjoyable. I know the novel isn't focused on the queer relationship, but the cover insinuates the book is mainly about that relationship when it is a minuscule part.

AMAZING BOOK, I CANNOT RECOMMEND ENOUGH!!

I was screaming the entire time reading Heartstopper and it only took me 15-20 minutes to read which I definitely did not expect. This was such a cute, adorable read and it will be my next purchase for my small shelves!

I think what really got me when reading this graphic novel was the relationships other than the one between Charlie and Nick. It was great of Oseman to add in the friendships Charlie has, even if they are few. AND THEN THE PE TEACHER CALLING OUT THE RUGBY PLAYERS FOR BEING HOMOPHOBIC??? MY FAVORITE PART BY FAR! I recommend this read to anyone who loves graphic novels or are trying to get back into reading.

This was an okay book and I expected a little more, and was slightly confused the whole time, but was written very well. The characters made me extremely angry in the short story “Boys Go to Jupiter,” but I think that was the idea so it was probably my favorite one. Definitely a good read for those who are trying to get back into reading, I tend to recommend short stories for those who are!

This was quite an enjoyable read and better than I had expected. Though I do have a problem with a male author writing from the perspective of a female character (for reasons of feminism and possible sexist comments about women), Matt Haig did an overall good job portraying Nora Seed.

Choosing to write multiple lives of Nora in each chapter, Haig captured the character's personality in a great way, from a reader's point of view. The journey Nora takes in trying to find her meaning in life is one that had me on the edge of my seat wanting to know what new life she would have next. This is a great read for readers who like the library setting, miss their elementary school librarians (shout-out to Mrs. Mendrop) or even just love a good dark or light academia read!

Books written by Elizabeth Acevedo just always blow me away! Her writing is one I never seem to care for going into it, but then once I get into the swing of things it gets so much more interesting. This book was unlike any other I have read with content and relationships among the characters. I always highly recommend Elizabeth Acevedo’s writing for those of you who want to get back into reading because it usually only takes me a few hours to read her novels-in-verse and they always have fantastic topics! I will be reading her first novel With the Fire on High soon enough if I can get through the many unread books on my shelf.

I really wish something like this could have been written for me when I was in high school. Coming out now is hard as it is, but in high school the judgement is all I thought about. Hearing others think the same thoughts is comforting.
