This was a book of very verbose and full of flashbacks and very little plot.
Page 250 before Fox, Brandt, and the rest of the crew (why is Viola in this book?) get to the tables. Before page 250 nothing…literally nothing happens. Then when something happens, nothing really happens.
I finished it, but truly wish I would have DNF’ed this book at page 250.

Look, it’s cute but overhyped.
If you know anything about D1 hockey players you know that maybe 1 on the whole team is a Henry. None or 1 are a Nate. Anastasia is…a brat even with years of therapy under her belt. She’s unusually hard on Nate for things that are beyond his control.
Overall it’s cute and an easy read but it does not reflect real world problems.

3.5⭐️ if I could give 1/2 stars on here.
You can tell that this author is highly influenced by Sara J Maas and mythology. There are a lot of similarities, and a lot of crossover. It didn’t bother me too much because it was a different story and the characters weren’t 100% the same. I can understand why it bothers some people, but it wasn’t a big deal to me. Every author has influences.
What I did mine was the use of metaphor. It was everywhere and constant within this book.
Overall, I enjoyed her style of writing. I thought that the world was descriptive, the characters were intriguing, and the plot was fun.
I did see the twist coming, but the way that it happened and the story behind it wasn’t what I expected. I would have really liked to see a lot more character development outside of the main female character, but that is what the follow up books are for. I am looking forward to reading Nightbane.

Cozy, cute, & a quick read. It was nothing mind blowing, but it’s the perfect book when you don’t want crazy world-building, tons of characters, and a crazy plot.
I’ll read the next one for sure.

I have sooooo many questions…
This book FELT like a fairytale from the beginning. A girl just searching for love, and a Fate (God) offering her a way to mend her broken heart…that’s fairytale stuff.
Nothing is wrapped up. Nothing is simple…I was left with more questions than answers. I’m in such a state of anticipation that I have to read the next book right away. I feel like this book was just a complete set up for the rest of the series.
Evangeline and Jacks are either enemies to lovers, or they are truly enemies. Apollo…what the heck happened? Marisol deserves a terrible ending (IMO) and hopefully book 2 will tie all of these loose ends together.

This book did something to me. It wrecked my heart and I literally couldn’t put it down. When I did, it’s ALL I thought about. I read this book in 20 hours and I will be rereading this series again.
I am beyond sad that I’ll never be able to read this book again for the first time.
That being said; the dark fairytale picks up the story of Evangeline and Jacks as they try to find all of the stones to restore the arch. Jacks and Evangeline have grown on each other, and have faced down some terrible things, including multiple attempted murders, injuries, and curses.
While Evangeline is still naïve, she’s growing as a character and shedding her innocence. She’s beginning to see in shades of grey, and she’s learning that real love isn’t always a fairytale.
Jacks reason behind his desire for the stones and the stories of his past slowly begin to unfold. Each time you learn something new about him, it gives his character so much dimension and you begin to sympathize and understand him better. Jacks has grown on me so much.
