… in my defense i read this at 17 plus i’ve read mythology books before, so keep that in mind.
every other paragraph, i’d think to myself, “damn this is so corny.” like, it’s funny. but.. sometimes it’s too much. i dislike that it’s heavily stereotypical like .. aphrodite’s children being rich narcissists and ares’ kids being “ugly”. also the way information about mythology is presented just feels uhh pushy. of course kids wouldn’t understand the references so you had to explain, but for me personally i didn’t like it.
it’s fun, though. like, it’s a quick read and it’s adventurous. maybe if i’d read it when i was younger, i would have appreciated it more.

Women are never taken seriously. We’re told to be overreacting and too emotional, especially in cases like in this book. josh gaslit elisa into thinking that she was crazy, and i think he represents a lot of males in society. The overall story was good. I expected a different ending, so maybe that means the writing was good.

WOAH.
from start to finish it’s so… DISTURBING!!!!!!!! like you already get a huge wtf because of the plot itself but the ending is just mwah chefs kiss.
it’s a very interesting read. you rarely see fucked up books, especially ones with taboos like cannibalism. i liked how they explained everything—govt manipulation, people believing anything, society pressure, and how rich people will always, always win. it’s a very criticizing book to everyone in it.

i love learning about native american culture, and maybe a bit of science, but that's about it.
the writing reminds me of when i made a wattpad story about my childhood crush. a lot of the things i put in were real things that happened to me, and the rest were what i watched on tv that i wished happened to me. there are a lot of characteristics about the mcs that were glazed over (e.g. jamie's identity crisis). they have a whole paragraph dedicated to it, and then only mention it again once towards the end. it doesn't make them them. the only things consistent were hockey, science, misogyny, and daunis' "i'm not like other girls" vibes.

i’ve never actually read stephen king’s novels. this my first. when i saw the car, i expected it to be haunted or something. i only knew him from It, a horror movie, so i expected the book to be supednatural. super embarrassing because i had to review it for book club but anyway.
it started off really slow, so i didn’t like it initially. it was interesting towards the end, which is about 300 pages in lol. i usually read fast-paced, light-themed books. there are some words/scenarios i was lowkey uncomfortable with, but i guess it has some importance? Idk. it made sense ig.
it didn’t really bring me to another world, or make my heart race, or keep me on my toes, but i do like the book. it’s an okay read.
it’s interesting how both morris and pete love the author’s work, but took it very differently. the “authors simply follow the characters” really got to me. i never thought of that.
i love pete. reading also changed my heart—it helped shape my opinions and beliefs. i have so much respect for his love and dedication towards his family, especially his sister. i have a little sister of my own, and i would do everything in my power to protect her.
morris is just trash. his mom’s a bitch too. halliday? trash.
overall, i like the plot. very realistic, relatable, very i would do it too.
