Hope is a beautifully dangerous thing. It’s necessary and moves us forward and can also make us stubborn. Following Lauren felt so timely in the world we’re in today.

This book left me still wanting more. I was so locked into following Tarisai and connecting to her that I didn’t want to close the book. The journey this second book took me on is one that I am currently facing in life (I mean not having the fate of the world on my shoulders or having magic) but I’m from a big family and have felt loneliness and isolation in the way that Tarisai described. I felt so connected to her, I felt like crying out “just LISTEN AND LET YOURSELF HAVE HELP” multiple times. I laughed, my heart raced, my anger for her mother boiled, and I feel complete. I can’t wait to read this book again and find new lessons!

It’s been a long time since I’ve read a book that had my itching to turn each page. I read this book in every spare moment I had over the last 4 days. Tarisai is a character I found myself in. There were moments I rooted for her, was angry at her, cried for her, but most of all I cheered for her. This story of finding yourself, facing who you are, and letting others love you is something anyone can relate to.

This story was so fun. The twists and turns coupled with what it means to be human made this story compelling. I found myself rooting for Enid and in the next breath wanting to yell at her. This story is about how our brains work to protect us and sometimes that protection is doing the exact opposite. It’s also a story about how we need good, trusting people and that it’s worth it to open your heart.

The imagery and humor are brilliantly woven through this book. The feeling I had as I was reading, was just warmth. Warmth of family, resilience, determination, and hope.

This book was the most captivating and enticing book I’ve read in years. The push and pull of emotion, tension, love, and pain truly capture you. The imagery is so vivid that you feel like you are Feyre. I couldn’t put this book down!

I want to preface by saying I read this not knowing a lot of the drama that went on and I know that it is being re-released.

This has so much potential as a story. I was sucked into the first 100 pages but by 300 pages, I was surprised that there were still 200 pages left. As I kept reading, there was a lot of redundancy, over explanation, and the characters seemed to regress. The jumping between character perspectives and timeline were sometimes difficult to follow and some of the language really took me out of the story It normally doesn’t take me this long to finish a book, but the last 200 pages or so were hard to get through. Again, lots of potential! Just was a rushed story with inconsistencies. I am intrigued to see where the series goes and I hope a new publisher will help refine the layout and progression of the story.

Loved it! It had such a cool way of exploring the Wilderwood magic and the Shadowlands magic being in constant flow. The relationships in this book are rooted in so much love but fear of loss. That’s, in my opinion, a theme that blankets each moment of the story. Someone’s strength becomes someone’s loss. Someone’s gain is someone’s sacrifice and the question that’s always asked is, “is it worth it?”

There were times where it felt like the story kind of dragged and there was a constant stubbornness of the characters that got a little frustrating, but all in all I’m excited to read the second book as it looks longer and may explain more of the Wilderwood and where the magic came from.
