I'm giving This one 3 stars because, I am more than positive it was extremely hard to write. Now, with that being said, i didn't love it I didn't hate it. The story of James and Sarah is more than heartbreaking and in many was very realistic. however, I think when I picked this book, I was more so looking for an inside of what JAMES was going through and his mentality that brought him to develop these types of emotions for his sister. I also did not like how quickly the relationship with Sarah and Sam seemed to go from 0 to 100 real quick, while I do understand it's a situation of years in the making, I just found my self no really understand his purpose. I will say the end, was NOT what I expected, but could be way more powerful if told from James POV

I really thoroughly enjoyed this book. I am a person who in general loves anything that gives me an in-depth look at something i had no previous knowledge of. I will say that at some instances it was a bit hard to read, just because the hawaiin language is used pretty heavily in this book but I loved that. This book for me truly created a connection between myself and the characters. But, it also showed the sad side of what can happen to a family when a serious illness shows up. It can truly destroy. But The reason I loved this book so much, was because of little Rachel, all she wanted to do was get better, that was her purpose and her goal. There was noting that stopped her, from living her life the absolute best that she could. This historical account of Leprosy was amazing and had you hoping for the absolute best outcome. I highly recommend this book, I myself read it twice.

Fist and foremost instead of reviewing each one individually since I read them all before I came to goodreads. Im going to use this review as a platform for all three book that I've read so far.

There is nothing that I love more, than hearing the same story told a COMPLETELY different way, when I tell you I've read like 3 different versions of ALICE IN WONDERLAND including this one that is not a joke, and Cameron jace KEEPS ME COMING BACK FOR MORE. I am naturally a nosey person so whenever someone ends up somewhere and they don't know why. I take that as a sign from God himself, and I have an undying NEED to figure out what happened to them, YET whenever I feel like I've managed to figured something out BOOM, wrong I was so wrong. Its like a breath of fresh air to read something and to be able to NOT guess the outcome. My body mind and soul are complete putty, every time I read one of these books. I just get so mad because I finished them so quickly THEN I HAVE TO WAIT for the next one. The imagery, the development of characters, the plots line everything about this series is captivating and I CAN PROMISE you won't be able to put these down.

Listen, this story was awesome. I was so excited that I only guess HALF of the ending. The reason this book, lost a star was because for me....there was a little too much sex and not ENOUGH plot...even still I feel like that isn't an actual description so let me try again. The sex, was fine, I love sex, we all love sex. What I didn't like was that they were ALWAYS doing it. Like at some point I wanted to see what their relationship was like in the "Before" ASIDE from the sex and lovey dovey stuff. Even a little more of an insight into Damien's family life as well. The plot, was awesome. I enjoyed the flipping back and forth and that the switch was clear and distinct. Not every author is capable of making that seamless transaction, but I feel as though Lauren Hammond did a really great job. I do wish that we could've gotten a little more interaction between her and the characters from "After" versus the "Before" I think it would've have give the character and even DEEPER meaning or a deeper connection to what her life is NOW.

With all the being said, again the ENDING I WAS NOT EXPECTING!! Which I love so much, because it leaves me on the edge of my chair waiting for the sequel. The ending was so jammed pack with new informations and new characters and new items and I KNOW the series is gonna be amazing. I cannot wait to see whats next. I know that I going to love the second book, it would take a lot to, with everything that she left us with, to make a sequel that didn't live up to my expectations.

This was a good read, well a GREAT read. Definitely would recommend it for anyone.

First, let me start off with saying I expected something much darker than what I got. I expected a girl with crippling OCD, and a true death with and I will tell you that's NOT what I got.

I really wanted this story to be darker, I mean with a tag line like, "How far would you go to end yourself?" how could I not?

Instead what I got was a orphan, who didn't remember much, and best friend a little bit on the wild side, medicare OCD and lots of money. That is pretty much what the book is about. The Character development, is good I wish there was little more in depth back ground Story on Emalyn, but again she didn't remember but. I wish also too that her OCD was stronger than the need for an excessive amount hand sanitizer, and I wish It took her much much much longer to get where she was at the end of the book. Realistically the time line just wasn't realistic at all......

MINOR SPOILER....

There is BDSM, I love it. I love anything revolving around it. I like the development of how it happened and her willingness to give in after all the struggles she'd been through. THIS IS NOTHING LIKE 50 SHADES OF GREY, so if that's what you're expecting please try again you'll be disappointed. The book, was good on its own, it kept me enticed to find out what had happened to her.

I just needed it to be darker, for her struggle to be more real. I just needed more the lonely was barely even mentioned...

So, I did not hate the book, however I did not love it. I have loved mostly every single book that she has written, but this one for me just fell flat. I kept waiting for something to happen. Something exciting but the book never got there, at least not for me. I love the characters because these are real women, and the struggles they are going through are very real and in real life exciting moment probably wouldn't happen, but in a work of fiction I was looking for way more excitement. I was looking for a resolution that, didn't seem to come. So again it wasn't horrible but I didn't love it.

First, let me preface this when I love reading retold stories. These are my weakness, to take something Im extremely familiar with and make it different and keep me interested is a task that Danielle Paige did wonderfully.

So let me start with this, I love how Dorothy isn't actually the main focus. She plays a huge role don't get me wrong, but what is more important is Amy, Starr, Mobi and Glemora. These are the character who make this story way different from The Wizard of Oz.

Its easy to, twist a story yet keep the same anchors. That is NOT the case, the only thing that's the same in that Dorothy went back to Kansas. But to see what happens when she comes back is so much more interesting than I could've ever imagine. The imagery is absolutely exquisite, even tho its dark and gloomy, it completely compliments whats going on. The build up to the end, perfectly executed cliff hanger. I cannot wait to go and get the next one (right after I finish Cinder).

Every time someone asked me what I was reading, I was so excited to tell them. Thats how good this book was for me. I'm so glad I read it. If you like books like this. Stop and read the Insanity Series by Cameron Jace, also phenomenal, and a derivative of Alice in Wonderland.

So I wanted to be head over heels in love with this story. The start was great I was immediately captivated and waiting for it to get better. ...and it never happened the story ended up reaching a plateau for me.

I will say I loved every single character I came across. I love how all the women in this story were deemed crazy by the state, but were represented as strong women. I believe that notion is why I didn't put the book down. I wanted to see where these women ended up.

I do wish there was more investigation, I also wish that was a bigger part in the story. The story was by no means horrible, but merely lack luster. I think it's a great concept that could've been taken much much further.

I loved loved loved this book. It honestly kept me intrigued and interested the entire read. I love the idea and diagnoses of DID and to partner it with the paranormal was such and interesting take on it. I'm mean considering half people don't believe in it and half do! I love Kaitlyn and Carly they truly are Sister have deep love for one another.

Normally I hate cliff hangers but this is one of the first ones that didn't make me angry, or feel like I didn't get the whole answer or truth. It was a very well done ending, that can sway you one way or another.

Absolute perfection. 5 stars
