I loved this version of succession with a steamy romance and a female protagonist who was steady even in the craziest of unhinged family moments. The sibling dialogue and character development was grade A and the romance was extremely hot, I didn’t really process how it all happened in a week because it felt very real. This book was a dessert and I was licking the bowl clean. So much fun, I wish I’d read it on a beach towel seaside. It had intrigue and mystery and family debauchery, all the best bits. I wanted to make this a five but I needed more with Greta and I’m still confused why her father wanted her to break up with Tony. I didn’t see why he wanted her to separate from him? We understood the brother was in a dead marriage but Greta had a strapping hot love?
Kate Clayborn, the writer you are. Absolutely magical. The mystery behind this was compelling but she balanced all the characters as complex humans. The love story was so full and sweet. I’m usually not into podcast subplots but this was so suspenseful. I need to own this and Georgie All Along. I’m going to read all the rest of her catalogue. I’m her reader for life.
An absolute delight. I can’t believe this was a debut novel. I loved that Eva took her time to find the slow burn and I LOVE Finn as MMC because he was so much and too much and ten times perfect. This title and the cover art are some bullshit because it looks like a light beach read but instead this book is swooning and lonely and takes the time to build towards a mature relationship. Almost five stars for me. Just a wonderful reading experience.
I very much appreciated that she was a curvy Latina but I just found this to be flat as a story. I liked the first book more, possibly because Callum was so precious. The mother character was unhinged and super toxic, texting her daughter that her boyfriend was going to leave her — that was absolutely awful and left unexamined.
The MMC in this really didn’t have flaws or development, he came ready to love her and appreciate her as his queen. Normally I’d love that but I think the writing just didn’t hook me as the female mainly worked through things in her head as logically as she could. Cover art was hot though.

I need to own this book. I need to reread that love story and how they developed the strength to secure that relationship. Wow. Absolutely loved the writing with two distinct POV’s. Levi is one of my all time MMC’s. The way we see his pain and family history lay out and how he finds resolution is so well done. He’s an absolute swoon and Georgie is a truly authentic character that is vividly portrayed. When she reaches up to suddenly kiss Levi early in the book it felt scary and messy and real. Wow. One of the best books I’ve read this year or last. Highly recommend.
Very interesting for those who want to read about high stakes medical assessments and the real teamwork that happens in medical teams. Heroic and also very clear about the profound sadness they felt working with patients. Cannot believe the number of motor vehicle accidents involving alcohol. Jesus.
I think I just really like the family and especially the mom. Looking back I think the first book was better and really set up the dynamic best. This one was interesting with the club and the idea of how the FMC finds confidence in her body and sexuality but I didn’t like the reconciliation - not a grand enough gesture to show growth from them both. Calder wasn’t it for me as MMC because he was the “middle child fuckup” and still kept hiding beneath his sexuality as a sort of charm. This one wasn’t for me.
She kept calling herself a cow because she was a surrogate which was not for me, and he went full caveman possessive for her. No judgement, but that is the kink of the book. I kept reading because I’m into the mountain setting and this was apolitical (thank god) so I enjoyed the fresh air setting and farm animals — all that “get away from society to find yourself” is a vibe I seek out in romance. I’ll keep going on the series.
Normally not into the pop star romance but they had great chemistry and I loved the MMC. This was also counter programming from some of the things in media this year, and it was nice to see her learning and falling in love.
This was fun because they stopped hating each other quickly and progressed to melting into their feelings. I wanted more with the side characters who went enemies to lovers but overall, a nice light read with some swoon and a few shovels of spice. Much stronger than her first novels with more development, but after the fun of The Fake Mate, I kind of wished they were wolves?
