The sass! The tension! This is definitely my favourite book of the Guilty series.

First time I've read this author. I like her style. I do feel like her character descriptions weren't enough but I liked the story quite a bit.

The narrator for this audiobook is kind of awful. Her interpretation of an Italian accent for the heroine was just irritating. The book itself was pretty good, though one thing did slightly bother me.
SpoilerLucia was a virgin and intended to remain one until her wedding day and yet she was described in very sensual ways and was quick to initiate romantic moves towards men. Meanwhile Ian is this very uptight guy but then he takes things shockingly far in semi-public areas, twice! They both seemed to contradict themselves.

I’ll give this author another chance but won’t rush to do so.

Lucia is a fiery Italian and illegitimate daughter of a prince and I liked her. She knew what she wanted and I love a story of a stuffy hero and a fiery heroine. However, Lucia as a character was far more fleshed out than the hero Ian. At the same time certain character motivations seemed to get lost in the shuffle. I like when the hero loses control and cannot contain himself with the heroine but in this case it wasn't romantic..... and it lost me a bit.

The writing is excellent as always. I went two stars because I am really upset that the women in this book, women who in previous books needed to buck the system, thoroughly upheld it at the expense of another woman.

Another age and power differential.

Akhirnya Guilty #4.

3.5 stars. This novel really needs to be longer imo. The final chapter suggests a path to solve the last big problem
SpoilerIan has lost his diplomatic position due to a scandal involving Lucia and although they're married and in love, they're both struggling -- he because he's lost his life's work, she because she knows he's unhappy and blames herself (they were both to blame for the scandal) -- and finally he decides to try for the House of Commons instead
, but I would have felt more secure about the HEA if we could actually see them starting to work towards it, instead of just having a quick conversation at the end. However, I really liked the characterization of both Ian and Lucia. They're well-rounded with positive and negative traits that make them seem like real people, not perfect ideals who carry the idiot ball when the plot requires. Neither of them gets a love-induced personality transplant and it makes sense why they are the way they are.
