Another wonderful, perfect book by Sandra Brown. I don't know how she does it but this being the second book I've read by her and also being perfect in my eyes with story structure, plot, suspense, characters, and everything included in a great and well-written story, there is no doubt that Sandra Brown is an artist when it comes to writing. I truly admire her skill and her stories!!

There was a wide range of characters and a bunch of different plots and subplots (and different crazy suspenseful plot twists!). Some of the characters made me very angry which I think was to be expected. And of course others I rooted for wholeheartedly. Crawford reminds me of one of those misunderstood, scruffy, intimidating kind of guys who really has the warmest heart for those he genuinely cares for like his daughter. Their relationship was beautiful and made my heart all warm and fuzzy reading interactions between Georgia and Crawford.

Holly was also actually I think one of my favourite female characters. I like her honesty and her drive and precision to do what's right. I felt she was a pretty strong character.

This story also had the perfect dash of hot romance and many leaves-you-wanting-more moments. Coinciding with the suspense and main plots it all tied in very well.

It was another romance, murder mystery, solving type book. I think I should stay away from them, as I didn't learn much from it and it didn't increase my views of anything. I did learn a bit about the Judicial system for certain circumstances, but other than that, eh.
I once loved books like these, and she is a great writer, (this is my first book of hers) so I may get into some of her others in the future. IF you like this Author I'm sure this book was amazing for you, some parts I skimmed through, as it was just unnecessary writing or processing, but did like trying to solve the mystery of why and who.
I enjoyed the characters and the plot to win you over with them, but once again, romance novels setting unrealistic goals of how fast pace life happens in novels, and not the real world.

It was a little slow to start but I couldn’t put it down during the second half.

I didn't love or hate this book - hence the three stars.

Compared to other Sandra Brown books I've read, I found this hero a bit tough to connect with. I get that he's a big, bad, closed off Texas Ranger, but he just didn't have that relatable vibe. I liked Judge Spencer, but found her commitment to the truth above all else to be unrealistic. Especially for a public official. On top of all that - most of the secondary characters left me fuming.

You might be asking, what did you like about the book. Well...I liked Crawford and Judge Spencer together. I found that while they were opposites in most ways they also had common ground to meet on. They brought out more likable parts of each other. The best part of the book though was Crawford and Georgia. Georgia was adorable and Crawford's affection for her was amazing. Dare I say that finding out what happened with the custody suit was my reason for finishing the book.

This 400 page book was such an ohmygoshwhatishappening thrill that I read it in 4 days. Each character is complex - surprising you with words, actions, and history that you just don't expect. Each chapter ends with an idareyoutoputthebookdown last sentence - forcing you to trudge on even at 1am. Each direction you think the author is going turns out to be just a fork in the road toward another possibility. I highly recommend it. And now knowing that Sandra Brown has written 60+ other books means I have a lot of catching up to do!

I think I may have sprained every muscle in my face rolling my eyes and grimacing at the cliched, inane sex scenes, the toxic masculinity, and the pervasive gender stereotyping in this book. Had I not listened to the audio book version (which also was not done well) as I drove, there is no way I would have finished it. The plot was ok until the end when the (obvious) villain's underwhelming, hardly believable motive was revealed. My first and last Sandra Brown. Read for ACPL Reading Challenge

there’s a man here who killed three people, but somehow joe gilroy is still the most annoying fucking character in this book

Compelling mystery

If you like Sandra Brown, you’ll love this. The audiobook is good- kind gives you a gritty, Clint Eastwood vibe- and the story is well written crime/romance/thriller as usual.
