4 and a half stars
I love fairytale retellings and I love paranormal reads. This is an awesome mix of both. The characters are interesting. The world is fun to fall into. Steamy and exciting I cannot wait to read more.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

If you write a book that is Wonderland inspired, there is a very big chance I need to have it. If you mix the world of Wonderland with the world of Vampires there is an even bigger chance I want to have it. If you then give said book a wonderful atmospheric cover it's impossible NOT to get it. So, I just had to have this book even though I wasn't gonna order any new books anymore and since it came in yesterday I had to read it as soon as possible. Which was today.

And I really enjoyed this story! I liked how the author clearly tried to incorporate as many elements from the original Wonderland story as possible. And yet, the author also made this an entirely original novel filled with surprises and new angles. The characters have personality traits and such in common with their original novel counterparts, but they also have new traits and new functions in Wonderland creating a completely new dynamic.

I especially loved the politics in this version of Wonderland. Literally every character has a role to play in the bigger tale and is being used, abused or in control. And even though Maddie's part of the story is finished at the end of the book, it's clear that there is a lot more story to tell when it comes to the politics. Although we only got a glimpse of the white queen in this book I can't wait to see her starring in her own story in the next one.

However, it will also be hard to let Noah and Maddie go. Of course, this book isn't that long and there could have been more details and more depth, but for me there was more than enough to fall in love with. I loved how Maddie dealt with her stress, how she sometimes acted before thinking and then did what she could to fix it. I loved how Noah was willing and capable to look further than just actions and could therefore forgive a lot if it was done for the right reasons.

Maddie

The mad hatter (Maddie) and her human turned vamp. This is probably my second favorite book in the series. I enjoyed this series although it was slightly different from how I thought it would be. But good nonetheless.

I think this one had a lot of promise. The world had some really interesting vibes and the story and characters felt like they could be really good but the execution was lacking. It felt like someone’s first go at a novel and i fully expected this to be a debut but it’s very much not. However this writing duo publish a lot quickly so i think the issue here may be that this was just so rushed it wasn’t given time for the story and characters to develop in complexity.

I think given more breathing time and better writing this could be a great book and series but at the moment the execution is just too … underdeveloped for me to continue reading. I can overlook grammatical errors and typos in self-published works but it was odd how sometimes the completely wrong word was used or used in the wrong way/tense. I feel like if there’s two authors involved surely one of you can pick up those errors so i think maybe these get churned out.

It was also disappointing how the conflicts are built up to be a big thing i.e oh no one has been able to do that in two years! But then our characters manage to conquer the conflict in a matter of pages with literally zero planning and zero strategy and the only difference is a blond guy with muscles is now involved

I actually really liked this.

Vampires aren't my deal, and sometimes I find vampire books hard to read, regardless of the otherwise plot.

But actually I think the vampire lore fit in really well with Wonderland, since the cast of characters never changes, even though the "Alice" does.

I love Maddie too. She's not as Mad as I think I would have liked, which is why I ended up giving this book four stars instead of five, but over all I found her charming. I loved how devoted she was to her sister and her descriptions of the hats she made. Noah was a tad bland to me, but that happens sometimes.

I the way all these characters fit into the new rules of the world was very interesting too. Mouse being Maddie's sister, Tweedledee and Tweedledum being werewolf children. The Rabbit being King Rav and Ches the Crown Prince.

I just thought everything was very interesting. I am eager to check out the second book when it comes out.

This is a series that has me hooked! It's a fantastic spinny flippy twist on the original and I am here for it;

☆ Dual POV
☆ Nutty FMC/ Hero MMC
☆ Dark Fantasy
☆ Gender Flip
☆ Slow Burn
☆ NA Fairytale
☆ Wonderland/ Vampires
☆ Werewolves

Thank you to Candace for granting me an arc of Maddie.

First I absolutely love the idea of a vampire version of Alice In Wonderland. Secondly I love that the Hatter is a woman.

Maddie was such an amazing character. I loved how she sang and skipped around, but could also kick ass if she needed to. I also liked that the romance between herself and Noah was a slow burn and not at all rushed. Sure they did things together but they didn't go all the way until near the end of the book and I felt that for them it was more meaningful.

Noah was just adorable. He knew what he wanted and he went for it. I don't want to ruin anything by saying what happens to him, or even Maddie, so I won't. I'll let the readers find out, but he took everything in his stride. All for the love of his sister and his growing affections for Maddie.

Maddie also has a sister she wants to protect: Mouse. Mouse is being kept a prisoner in Imogen and Rav's castle and despite her growing feelings for Noah, all she wants is to save her sister from their clutches.

I can't wait to learn more about Chess in the next story. It seems to be one of my favorite tropes: enemies to lovers.

A fun mix of Vampires and and a twist on wonderland we all know.   Maddie is a fun multiple POV with spicy scenes.  Part of a series that has you wanted to move to the next book.  The book was easy to follow and full of the paranormal.

This was such a fun read! I really love fairy tale retellings. Add vampires to that and it was perfection. There was some spice, action and just so much packed into this book! I can’t wait to read the next one!

To my pleasant surprise, I really liked this book. And I didn't think I would, because the character archetypes of the protagonists really aren't my usual cup of tea (MMC is the ~stuck-up male white knight~ trope and FMC is the ~whacky/possibly insane but 1000% loyal to family & with a heart of gold~ trope).

Noah grew on me and the authors did a great job of turning his archetype around (he becomes more lovable and flexible as the book goes on, and especially as his feelings for Maddie grow).

Maddie stuck up for her sister 1000% while also being unashamedly sexually forward with Noah and doing the most to push their relationship along (which he was totally okay with!). And it's always so nice to see a sexually forward/liberated female character (usually it's the men who are).

Also, this book was Wildly horny, just like the novella before it, and definitely, Very Much an Adult Romance. PWP, as they say on AO3. With the right balance of plot and smut!

*Note trigger warnings the book needs: lots of graphic violence and graphic murder (if you can't handle decapitations, this book is Not for you), vampire blood sucking (hopefully this one was obvious), mention of past sexual assault (to the FMC but by a true villain, not the MMC), present time non-consensual drugging and groping (sexual assault?) of the MMC by a different villain (it's a brief scene but it's described in detail), plenty of swearing (this should come with the Adult book territory and I didn't mind it, but just a forewarning to others who don't like seeing the f-word and s-word a lot).
