The Winner's Kiss begins with Kestrel on her way to being imprisoned in a work camp. Fortunately she isn't there too long, though I won't give anything away with how she gets out. She eventually makes her way to Herran. I thought the author was clever with how she drew out the relationship between Kestrel and Arin in book 3. This book dealt a lot more with the war. Dacra had come to the aid of Herran. I loved Roshar, the Dacran prince. He was a much needed comic relief in the book because it was very intense. I did not care for the many scenes of war and details about it. It actually turned me off a bit to the book and I eventually put the book down. Only a pressing due date at the library helped me to finish it. The story dragged a bit for me in the end.
*3.75 stars*
I've had mixed feelings on this series as a whole. I found book one so-so, book 2 really good, and this one a bit more in between. I thought it was really action packed and fun in the first half, but dragged a bit later on. The romance was good, although I didn't love either of the main characters I still found it believable and sweet. I liked Kestrel and Arin getting to know each other again after everything that happened in the previous book. It wrapped up nicely in the end, and I feel like it could make an amazing tv series.

I'll just say wow. This last installment to the trilogy is my favorite. It has everything including heart stopping moments and sexually tense scene. I think I screamed "just do it already" and couple of times and then giggled when it finally happened. I love the motif of forgiveness at the end, a very lovely touch!
This was my favorite out of the trilogy. Definitely a slow burn romance war story. They both changed for the better since the beginning of the books. She had to relearn who she was and who she wanted to be. And he had to learn to let her go and trust she'll come back.
As one of my oldest TBRs veterans I probably should have read this when I first bought the book. I wasn't invested in the characters and the story dragged on a little too long for me. I was a little bored listening to the story but reading book one and two kept me listening so I could found out what happens to these characters.
I liked the writing style, and the author does a great job with the war description/political intrigue but the world felt a little bland in other ways and the characters felt a little one dimensional in comparison to the other two books in this series.
The secondary characters in this book were interesting though and another reason I continued on with the story!
I am glad to finally finish one of my oldest TBR veterans though!

THIS FINALE ... OMG
I could finally connect to all of the characters and the plot was just non-stop tension!!
This book was absolutely everything you could wish for in a finale, what a great ending man.
Also, Roshar is a whole ass mood.
Loved this conclusion, it was so smart and fun and nerve wracking, just amazing.

i'm actually really satisfied with the way this series ends, with the journeys the characters took, with everything, really. i haven't felt this satisfied after reading a YA series in a long time! feels good, scoob!
This book...THIS BOOK. This stunningly beautiful, masterful conclusion to a beautiful trilogy. Arin, Kestrel, Roshar (MY LOVE), this intricately woven war that was so strategic and surprising and utterly fascinating - I could not have asked for a better book to end a series. Characters surprise you, shit goes DOWN, relationships come apart at the seams and are stitched back together in new and mesmerizingly realistic ways. The battle scenes had me on the edge of my seat and just when you think you know what's going to happen, Rutkoski switches perspectives and you find yourself bargaining for one more chapter, and then another and another, until finally you loose a breath and close the cover because you've reached the end. I am, without a doubt, completely satisfied and that is a blissful feeling.
Still calling this Winner's Crown.

Gosh. GOSH. GOSH. I'm going to go ahead and say it right now. The Winner's Kiss is definitely the best book out of the whole series. Not only was the writing insanely beautiful and dreamy and powerful all at once, but the strength behind every word, every action unfolding had my heart in an iron fist the entire time I was reading the novel.
I will say, when I read the first book, I was a little underwhelmed. Kestrel and Arin fell in love a little too fast for my taste and things progressed just generally too quickly, but wowee, me oh my did this book make up for everything that had happened. After all the struggles that Kestrel and Arin have been through on their own and together, it was so heartwarming to see them finally get what they deserve. I loved so much about this novel, from Arin's connection with the Death God, to Kestrel's acceptance of her role in war and with her father. Everything played out better than I could have ever anticipated.
When I finished, I couldn't help but cry a little because I was so relieved and so content. It was bittersweet. If I could read the series over again from the start, I honestly would. I would save every word like sugar on my tongue.
