JEA is a new fave author!! I LOVED Kyle and Eve's story. Eve is such a spitfire and I ate it up! The age gap angst between these two was top-tier. Their HEA was hard-fought, but that made it so much sweeter, in my opinion.
Spice was EXCEPTIONAL!! Everybody needs a "Kyle" in their lives! ;) I'm so excited for what's to come in this series!! I CAN NOT WAIT!!

The sweet smell of apples baking in the sunlight filled the air as she slowly walked through the orchard. It was fall days like these that she lived for. She reached up and plucked an apple from the tree. Taking a bite she savored its tartness on her tongue. This place was a small slice of heaven on earth, the other slice was the man walking toward her.
The Apple Tree is a dual POV romance following Kyle and Eve. Kyle has just moved to the small town Eve has grown up in. He arrives with his young son in tow. Eve is trying to find her place in life and as the pastor’s daughter she has rules to follow.
After reading and loving the first book in this series I was glad to dive in and get Eve’s story. While I didn’t love this one as much as the first book, I still loved watching Kyle and Eve’s story unfold. Eve was immature a lot throughout this book, but you have to remember she’s eighteen and dealing with emotions and scenarios as an eighteen year old. No one processed things well at eighteen. I relate to a lot of things in this series so far and I can’t wait to read Grace’s story next!
If you want a single dad, age gap, forbidden love romance… definitely give this one a read.

Perfection. The story of Kyle and Eve..a forbidden, age gap, single dad, with messy parts and an undeniable love. I fear that anything Jewel E Ann writes will make me cry. This was emotional and raw with character development but also just pure love. 5⭐️

Have you ever finished a story and you just want to hug it? From the way it made you smile. The way it made you laugh. The way it made you giddy. And the way it made you cry? Because it just gave you all the emotions? That was The Apple Tree for me. A feeling of joy, love and pure adoration.
The Apple Tree is the second book in the Sunday Morningseries, but can be read as a standalone as each book is about a different sister. 3 sisters. Set in the 1980's. Small town. With a pastor as a father. Having read the first book, we got a few little peaks of Eve, the middle sister and she already had my attention. She's a free spirit, but has nowhere to put all her energy. Now, she's 18, recently graduated, but doesn't have real plans for a future. She's working at a hotel as a maid and living at home as her friends are preparing for college. She's still "figuring it out". When her dad's best friend's brother moves in next door with his young son, Eve develops an immediate crush on the man that is 10 years her senior. But she's an adult and she knows what she wants.....
Eve was a handful, and even that was an understatement. She was like a cigarette, addictive and bad for me, yet oddly alluring.
Kyle and his son Josh move in as neighbors to the Pastor and his family. He's a single dad that hasn't had the easiest life, but he is looking forward to starting over with his new job as the local high school math teacher and the football coach. When he and Eve meet, there is an immediate spark between them, but he KNOWS that she is only 18. A NEW adult AND his brother's best friend's daughter. She's gotta be off-limits. But with Eve volunteering as his son's babysitter, those sparks are bound to ignite.
Eve and Kyle were such a joy to read about. Yes, they were forbidden. Yes, there was a 10 year age gap. But boy was Eve fun to watch grow into herself and tempt Kyle at every turn. I loved her relationship with Josh and I liked how her interactions with Kyle were wrought with tension but also with so much quiet emotion. You could tell that their time together was just easy. Eve was Kyle's match. They complemented each other and there was an ease to their relationship that Kyle didn't feel elsewhere. Eve may have been young and made some rash decisions but Kyle could see himself in her and he just got her.
While The Apple Tree was obviously a story of a forbidden age gap romance, I loved how Jewel E. Ann interspersed some tougher subject matter into Eve's and Kyle's journey as well as a strong relationship between Eve and her grandmother. It was those aspects that made the fun and sweet story more tender and honest. It grasped at my heart and made all the messiness of the situation pure and utter perfection.
Grandma Bonnie told me to find a man who I loved with my whole heart but who loved me just a little bit more.
If you love a story that will make you laugh and cry and is filled with as many tender moments as there are fun and light, then you will love The Apple Tree. Wonderful banter. Amazing and flawed characters. And just a special story of two people that need each other and will go to the ends of the earth for one another. Plus, the music/chapter titles? 'Chef's kiss'
It's been a week and I'm still thinking about this story and I know my review could never do it justice. I will say if you want to hug a story, then THIS is THE book to pick up!
"Don't be angry that I love her. You should be shocked if I didn't fall deeply in love with her because she's amazing....."

Our girl Jewel loves coming in with taboo stories and I gotta admit: I am always willing to go on that reading journey.
"The Apple Tree" gives us Eve, who is over being reminded of how she's too young to know any better, a bit of a rebel in her religious home, and Kyle, single dad, new to town, high school football coach, new neighbor. See where this is going?
The trope card for "The Apple Tree" include:
-- forbidden romance
-- single parent
-- age gap
-- pastor's daughter
-- set in 1987
-- forced proximity
JEA has a way with creating characters and situations that allow readers to see growth in such beautiful ways. Be it a character who has to fight and conquer their demons or someone who struggles to believes they are worthy of a second chance at happiness or parents who have to face their role in their children's choices.
Ann gave us Eve and Kyle, flawed but incredibly loveable, in a book that makes readers cheer for the underdog, the one who doesn't know how strong and brave they can be, characters who encourage you to face your fears in hopes of a happy ever after.

The Apple Tree was nothing short of amazing. I loved it even though it did an emotional number on me. I think it packed even more of an emotional punch than Sunday Morning.
This journey and these characters will live with me for a while. I loved the way the author drew these characters. They were very much true to life. I felt their struggle not only to deal with external things but also their internal emotional upheaval. The author did an amazing job of portraying Eve and Kyle as well as the secondary characters.
I loved the way Eve and Kyle's relationship was developed. The buildup was a seduction in and of itself. It kept me glued to the pages.
I loved this book and very highly recommend it as well as the first book in the series. It was jam packed with angst and overflowing with emotion. It was an overall amazing read so much so that I can't wait to read the final book in the series. I know it's going to be a great read.

This is the second book in the Sunday Morning Series, and I was so excited to get Eve's story. We met her in the first book which is about her sister Sarah. I knew from the beginning that she was going to be a rebellious spitfire! Her story had me laughing out loud one minute and crying the next. She needed someone to see her for her and get her the help she needed, that person just so happened to be Kyle the guy she fell in love with, the older single dad who moved in next door. They both fell for each other, but neither were sure if things were going to work and then everything went up in flames. I don't want to give too much away. This book had me up all night, I started and couldn't stop, I needed to find out what happened! I can't wait to see what happens with Gabby the youngest sister!
If you love contemporary romance, New Adult Romance, single dad romance, forbidden love, age-gap then go grab this book!!!

Eve is so strong and feisty and matches Kyle’s humor 100% I love their banter and how they get each other. Jewel E Ann knows how to hook me into a story and keep turning the pages until I finish in ~36 hrs. The forbidden / age gap aspect is 🤌🏻 and the push and pull between Kyle and Eve is gold. THE WINKS!! I love how playful Kyle feels with Eve even when he feels the responsibility of being a single father, new coach, neighbor, etc.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐞 is the second book in the Sunday Morning series by Jewel E. Ann, featuring an age-gap, forbidden romance for Eve and Kyle. Eve’s spitfire personality stood out to me, when I read Sarah’s story, so I was excited to see what kind of trouble she would find for herself. The preacher’s daughter falls for the older single-dad neighbor? Sounds about right! I loved every riveting minute of this journey to another decade… the clever dialogue, the understanding, the angst and yearning, the chemistry, the family tension and expectations, and the high emotions and surprises!! I felt it all! I loved the romance, and the sweet moments with Josh. And yet, when things took a shocking turn, as they always do with this author, I found myself with tears pouring down my cheeks in a cathartic way. JEA always handles the deep emotional topics with utmost grace and care. With two sisters’ stories successfully out in the world, I can’t wait to see how Gabby’s story goes!
I received an ARC for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.

The Apple Tree is the second book in this series. This time it’s about the middle child, Eve. She’s eighteen years old, already graduated high school, has a job cleaning motel rooms and still lives with her parents. She’s kind of drifting through her life with no set goal. It’s tough being the small town Pastor’s daughter.
Kyle Collins and his five year old son, Josh, move next door to them. He’s 28 and her father’s best friend’s younger brother. When he and Eve meet, they have immediate sparks. Thrown together by her mother as a babysitter to Josh only fuels their fire.
Age gap is a touchy trope— especially when the FMC is so young. It’s seen as forbidden. I love that the author included Kyle’s POV throughout the story. He got that it was forbidden, but he also couldn’t stop his feelings towards Eve. Despite their age differences, (which he brought up to her waayyyy too many times), they just worked. They got each other’s humor and sarcasm.
This is quite an emotional story. I loved reading until the end to see how the author would give these two their happily ever after.
Thank you to the author and Valentines PR for an advanced readers copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
