this book unleashed some sort of feral beast out of me. it was published like last week wheres the rest of the series already bitch š it shouldve been a thousand pages long so i could have more story bc i was so so obsessed magic and witches and wizards are awesome and you can turn into a dragon if you want and hes like a hated prince like hello love of my lifeā¦.. and fuck it pandora was charming usually the knowing nothing is annoying but i was charmedā¦. bitch wheres book 2!!!!!! and also the tunnel thing wtf that was hot
the fm is almost insufferable due to her inability to trust anyone so far into the story
This book got me out of a huge book slump. I found myself being drawn in again and again to reading it when I was supposed to be doing productive things. Oops lol. Pandora is a hidden and shackled woman who switches places with her sister and is married to the Prince of the neighboring magical kingdom. She goes to him believing magic is demonic and that she will soon be killed. Twists and turns and dark plots ensue. Check the trigger warnings.
I personally think The Witchās Pet is dark fantasy at its finest. Iād recommend it for people who enjoy actual ādarkā situations in their books and the atmosphere of stories like the Last Unicorn (movie). Before you ask, there isnāt a ton of spice but the tension is *chefs kiss*. Iām not normally one for miscommunication or hiding secrets but it works for this book and Iām dying to read book 2.

The Witchās Pet is a captivating, arranged marriage, enemies to lovers, dark romantasy debut with fascinating lore, incredible world building, top tier banter, layered characters, magic and witches.
This debut was everything I could have wanted in a romantasy. It has some of the best banter I have ever read, characters that feel real and authentic, storytelling that draws you in, and all the vibes I loved from ACOTAR & From Blood and Ash. It was so easy to connect with the characters and so many moments had me laughing or swooning or tearing upā¦it was a roller coaster of emotions. I was especially impressed by the dual POV. The two main charactersā voices felt and sounded uniquely different from the other, and thatās not something I normally come across which made this book especially enjoyable.
I absolutely loved Pandora and Sitri as a couple! Their opposites-attract chemistry, the slow-burning tension, the caretaking scenes, and all of the playful witty banter between them had me completely hooked. I am obsessed with these two! But especially Sitri. He became the charming morally gray book boyfriend I didnāt know I needed. All the build up throughout their romance arc was so well done, and I canāt wait to find out what happens in the next installment of this series. I still canāt believe this is only the debut book! It was SO SO GOOD!
Thank you to Kerri Andrews for the amazing opportunity to be on your ARC reader team! I loved your book so much!

This book had me hooked from the start! The world is SO cool. The characters are so compelling. Pandora being married off to a witch, Sitri, sets up such an interesting dynamic. Hello arranged marriage trope!!
And can we talk about Sitri for a sec??? He's mysterious, powerful, and hot. I mean look at the cover.
New book boyfriend: unlocked.
If you're into magic, arranged marriages, secret histories, and dark fantasy vibes with a twist, you need to pick this up.
Graphic: Animal death, Domestic abuse, Gore, Torture, Cannibalism, Suicide attempt, Murder
The world building is phenomenal, I feel like Iām living there as Iām reading the books, seeing the same trees, the same castle, the details of the cityscapes, itās wondrous.
I was hardly able to put the book down, I started the book, and by the time I hit 40% it was 5am and my partner was begging me to go to bed with them lol. I woke up early to finish it the next day, couldn't get it out of my head had to know how it ended. It did not disappoint, however, the way it ended I need the second book now!
The FMC Pan has been sheltered all her life, and been made to feel less than. Pan is so stubborn and ignorant and the two do not mix well together at times. With that being said, it is understandable especially for someone who was raised in such extraordinary circumstances.
Kay points in no particular order:
-shifters
-Abuse of power
-kidnapping
-forced proximity
-one horse
-forced marriage
-witches or as they like to be called Magi
-magic
-warring societies
-enemies to even worse enemies, to cordial stubbornness
-Secrets unearthed

"They made a monster out of me."
This was the most confounding book I've ever read. There's a kernel of an good premise here, and I found the character and dynamics interesting (up to a certain point) but I felt like I was reading a first draft? There's no way this book was edited, there were syntax mistakes and repetitions in the narration and dialogue that made it feel like no one read over it before publishing.
I did carry on reading because I liked the premise and the dynamic between Pandora and Sitri--I enjoy situations where two lonely characters are forced together and grow to care about each other. Their interactions got very frustrating at some point though because it felt like Pandora did not get things that were extremely obvious, dare I say explictly spelled out to her, like the fact that Sitri had to treat her differently in front of others to protect her. Towards the end when they're fully romantic the forced miscommunication was extremely annoying because he was extremely clear in the things he did and said and she was still like "omg but what if...", like come on!! I was done!!
Also Sitri's internal dialogue and narration felt like a teenage girl was speaking, not a grown, supposedly powerful, man. The writing did not reflect the character at all, it was very odd. They also both snarl and growl about a million times a page. Another thing I found weird is that this is set in 2023 but it's an almost medieval setting, with kingdoms and castles? I found it unnecessary to state the year, it was so jarring,
The ending sucked so badly, there was no cliffhanger or tension to it.Sitri leaves Pandora with a witch he knows and assures her she can trust for the DAY so she can learn magic and the entire scene has her acting so dramatically as if he abandoned her forever, and the books ends. I was considering a 3 stars before that but it was so awful I had to round down the rating. Apparently this is gonna be a 4 book series, but I'm definitely not reading the rest, lol.

ARC review. Beautifully written. A unique magic system. Humans live protected behind a wall. The magi exist everywhere else. The humans have an archaic way of thinking and religion. The banter kept me amused the whole book. The right amount of spice. Feisty FMC with an internal belief that she is bad. Reluctant prince and husband. Dark fantasy vibes. Morally grey MMC is gorgeous and lethal. Touch her and die. Forced marriage and close proximity but they end up being perfect for one another. Both very loyal to their sisters. Slow burn. A touch of prophecy. The character development is eloquent and complex. I canāt wait to read the next book to see how Sitri and Pandoraās life continues.
