I loved the first and I loved the second.

This book rolls at a much faster pace, which definitely works to its advantage. The characters are already well established, Myla's still mouthy like we love, they've just all come into themselves.

Seeing Myla finally taking control and ruling like the beast she is is sooooo satisfying. Her mom is President of Purgatory, and now almost completely back to her old Senator self. Lincoln is still strong and their relationship is just so...yum. Also, Walker is living it up as a head engineer (all that potential finally working towards something other than the world's most efficient transportation). He gets to save Myla's ass a couple times, so that's great.

The book starts up a little past the end of the first. Myla's the new Great Scala, and she's navigating the politics and responsibilities that come with liberating a realm - trying to unbrainwash a whole population who've been raised to believe that they're sheep.

The Gouls have left Lucifers Orb hidden in Purgatory, preventing Myla from moving any souls to heaven, so finding it is priority #1. She hasn't been able to move any souls yet as a result, and The Ghost Towers holding the unmoved souls are threatening to burst and unleash an angry, destructive, ghostly army across purgatory. Myla rightly feels responsible for Purgatory and its inhabitants, but more so, a responsibility to the souls she needs to move. If she moves them to hell, there's no way for her to take that decision back. So she refuses to follow Goul protocol and just move them all to hell for the sake of the living; at least unless she absolutely has to.

As you can imagine, the brainwashed quasis who are running the towers hate this. They've all got Goul-fetishes, and miss their old masters.

Meanwhile, Adair (who I hate. I hate hate hate her) is stalking Myla. She has an evil plot brewing and is just arrogant, self-absorbed, and stupid enough to flaunt around in front of The Great Scala like she's been cheated in all this (aka. she thinks Lincoln is hers, that she should be the Great Scala, and is actively politically sabotaging Myla by stirring up riots).

Sneaky idiot.

And once again, an uber creative tale is beautifully spun. I felt considerably more fear for her in this book than the first, and also considerably more satisfaction in watching her deal with things.

I was sad this was a shorter book (less time with the characters) but I've already picked up the third, so keep bringing it on, Christina!

Well, I thought it was a good, quick read but Myla seems to have jumped quickly from first dating Lincoln to engaged. There were a lot of hints throughout the book that were probably to keep the reader going but the internal dialogue dumbs down the storyline for the reader.

I honestly don't know why I didn't like this book and couldn't finish it. It read like the first which was a fun easy read. But I was bored and only made it a 1/3 of th way through before I was over it. Did I hate it? No. That's why it's 2 stars and not 1.

A lot of things have happened since. 2014 Was a very hard year for myself so all the reviews are showing up on the same date. I can't explain why they are, if the ratings are justice or accurate I can also not say when I truly read these. I'm just going to say 2014 on the same day added just to keep the year right if not the month...

Myla Lewis. The Great Scala. A Main character who knows how to kick your arse and then dry your eyes when you are crying about it. I adore her.

This book starts off where the first one [b:Angelbound|18459932|Angelbound (Angelbound, #1)|Christina Bauer|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1378424620s/18459932.jpg|26112300] leaves off. Myla is officially the great Scala. She hasn't performed her first time in moving the souls from purgatory to either Heaven or Hell because an Orb that blocks souls from entering Heaven has not been found.

The book does suffer some of the second book syndrome but I still really like the story and characters enough that I can move past that.
Myla still has enough of mouth on her (with no filter) that I root for her no matter what she has gotten herself into. No insta-love between her and Lincoln either...Just hotness.

This image from the back of the first book is just perfect of these two characters.

Adair-that chick who wanted to have Lincoln and be the Scala heir in the first book comes back in this one as the little bitch that she is. Be prepared to hate her.

This book is much shorter than the first book in the series. I kinda hate that. I missed the time with some of the characters..but that just means that Christina Bauer can write some more books about them. :)

I recieved a copy of this book as an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review. That in no way affected my review of this book. Cuz well everyone knows I'm a bitch if I don't like a book.

Oh, Lady Adair, what have you done. This was a great story, I love how Christina Bauer is able to tell the story with enough detail that you could picture purgatory and yet manages to keep the story moving at a quick pace. I am very interested in reading the next book in the Angelbound Origins series. I need to know what happens in Acca! I was just looking at Goodreads and noticed that there are three more series taking place in this world. Looks like I have a lot of reading to do. Here's hoping that Christina continues to records the books in audiobook format.

Myla is in a bit of a pickle, she cant send souls to their rightful destination (being Heaven or Hell) since Lucifer's Orb is blocking her sending any to Heaven... and Myla really doesn't want to send innocent souls down to Armageddon. However, the souls are getting agitated, someone is stealing Myla's power and undermining her in every way. What does a girl have to do to catch a break?!

Character development was good, Myla and Lincoln learn to depend on each other, something that is a pretty foreign concept.
But Adair, seriously, cant she like... look beyond her own selfish person for a second and see what freaking problems she is causing? I don't say this lightly... but damn, she is a Bitch!
Cissy is awesome in this book! Stepping into her role and playing interference when Myla needs some help. Hell yeah!

Pacing and flow were good, felt like a lot more action in this book as in the first, but it still managed to maintain a good balance between all the action and conversation.

The book itself was well written with no (noticeable) errors.

All in all, all I can say is that I'm looking forward to reading the next part. Myla and Lincoln are bloody great together! Bring... it... on!

I received an e-arc of this book through Netgalley, thank you for giving me a chance to review in exchange for an honest review with my own thoughts and opinions.

I first found this series as a deal on booking to get free book back in 2014 and it stuck with me so much that when I saw an Anniversary edition on Netgalley my finger clicked request before I even fully processed this.

What’s special about this anniversary edition is that there are beautiful pictures of places in the book and scenes that I can only imagine would be even more beautiful in print. I’m definitely going to have to get my hands on this set, for the artwork.

However regarding the book itself, the reason I love this series so much is that the premise is so unique. A girl that is part demon, part Angel (with a dragon’s tail) can move souls to Heaven or Hell, and has to fight evil alongside her hot, handsome, and incredibly handsome boyfriend who is the Prince of the part human part Angel race called Thrax. The heroine is a strong, clever women who can fight her own battles and whose moral compass is delightful in that although she always giving chances but isn’t afraid to make the decision. That is extremely evident in this book especially.

In this book specifically, we have Mya learning the ropes of being the Scala and all the challenges that come with being one of the most powerful beings, and those who would wish to take her place. I loved this series and will continue on, because there are some sequels I did not know about!!

ANGELBOUND wrapped up the current storyline really well with only a slight conflict with the distance between Myla and Lincoln going into book 2 (as in where they lived) so I was excited to see what could possibly happen. The new conflict didn't surprise me at all but I enjoyed the buildup and wrap up as the story went along.

I could have sworn with the ending that this was the last book in the series but I was informed that book 3 is already available for pre-order so YAY! I wish we could get more from the series but it did a good job of closing all the loose ends and giving the characters a great ending. I enjoyed the overall storyline and character development from the whole series. Nice fast paced read.
