You can't help but feel for the heroine, she's the real hero in this tale. I like that the H finally understands what he's put her through though to get a really satisfactory ending we would've seen him woo her and try and make up for some of the pain she went through.

Really excellent holiday short novel that had me tearing up more than once. Packed quite the emotional punch.

Lucy is a baker and her ex-husband Sullivan is back in town. Sullivan can't figure out why he's constantly craving cookies, and feels panic when Lucy walks away from him. He has amnesia from a brain injury suffered in combat, and he was the one who wanted the divorce. His amnesia only involves her -- he can remember his father, and combat buddies but not their marriage. As many times as I've seen amnesia used in soap operas, this felt very real, and resonated.

I’m was surprised with how much I liked this one! Military, amnesia, second chance romance. I wanted to hate the H at times, but it really was a tough situation for both of them.

Angsty AF. Second chance romance.

This holiday novella is as devastating as it is romantic, with an ending sweet enough to rival the most decadent dessert. Truly a fabulous read that will get the season off to a perfect start when it releases on 21 November!

This book seriously tugged on my heart strings.

Sully came back, from the war, with not all of his memory. He basically remembers everything but his wife. So he demands a divorce, so she won't suffer. But he has no idea how much more she is suffering being apart from him.

Lucy is trying to move on, but she still loves her husband and doesn't understand why he can't remember her.

Seeing Lucy react to him, you feel her heart breaking. I was in a constant state of sadness. My eyes teared up the whole time. She wished she could forget him also. It's so hard loving someone who doesn't remember loving you.

While he may not remember her, he remembers the sweets that she makes. And slowly starts to want more than friendship with her. But how can you want someone, who you don't remember, while the other person remembers?

Heart breaking.....

Such a well done novella! So much story packed into it. And the angst, oh the angst! My heart hurt for Lucy so many times in the story. It's not very often an author can get me to feel SO MUCH for a character. And I really want to try Lucy's Pfeffernusse!

Unexpected humor kept popping up amongst all the heartbreak:

"Every time you say you hate Christmas, one of Santa's elves explores." "Shut up and give me a fry."

"Enjoying the holiday traditions while terrorizing you all at the same time. It doesn't get any better than this."

Lucy tilted her head, considering. "I don't think I've ever consciously thought of the word breeder in my life. Oh, wait. I just did."

When you get to the "A year from now, month from now, week from now, day from now" speech...ohhh it was so lovely I highlighted it and read it 3 times.

At the end of the book make sure you go to the author's website to ready a nice long epilogue and the letter Sullivan wrote to his buddy's children at Christmas. Makes the story even better.

Ends at 96% on my Kindle.
Stand alone novella (I think, although I see other books by the author set in Bitterhorn)
