A bit of a sensational book, making lots of claims and insisting on only one way, found I couldn't get on with the style of the author.

As an introductory book to Mark's flavor of the "paleo" lifestyle -- "primal", I enjoyed the flow and readability of this book. I'd recommend this before The Paleo Solution by Robb Wolf to newcomers since I feel like it has a more approachable writing style. Mark tells a fictional story of a modern family which does all of the wrong things in order to motivate the reader to change their lifestyle to be more like the fictitious "primal" family.

I skimmed this book mostly because I'd gotten a lot of the information from Mark Sisson's web site, marksdailyapple.com, its accompanying newsletter, and his free e-book, Primal Blueprint Fitness. I'm a skeptic but am open to this program because he approaches his methods in a very scientific way and backs it up with some research. He doesn't just say he thinks one thing is better than another--he says why and what research supports it.

In the end, I am trying this program to see if it works for ME. I am not a believer in universal truths for everyone, but I'm willing to give this a try and see if it helps me with my weight and health issues. That, in the end, will be the deciding factor for me.

I really like the concept, although it is hard to buy into some of the reasons for doing all of this when I don't fully believe in evolution. Still I am able to take the recommendations in the book and implement them and I have for sure seen great results.
I had to skim over some of the content as it was a bit dense for me, but I believe he encourages you to do this if you don't really care about the science.

Although the Sisson's global writing style and quirky voice sometimes made it difficult for me to capture all the ideas, I loved the scientific approach to looking at how what we put in our bodies effects our short and longterm health.

Excellent read, and I'm sure I'll be rereading more than once.

I enjoyed reading this book even more than Robb's. His enthusiasm is contagious and these lifestyle changes do seem manageable. granted I am only 21 days into it, and feeling healthier than I have felt in years. I will be re-reading this book for continued inspiration. Which is quite something as I have only ever re-read 2 other books before

Lots of great information in this. It’s basically the keto diet with some intermittent fasting. He spends a fair amount of the book throwing shade on the carb and sugar laden standard American diet pushed by big food companies. The interesting part is his laid back approach to exercise. He feels that less impactful and routine exercise are better for weight loss because they don’t leave you depleted and hungry and have less risk of injury.
