Hard to rate this one. There was a ton of really great information in this book. So many fascinating sleep studies. I enjoyed a lot of the content. But ... and it's a big but .... I could not stand the author at all. For so many reasons. He didn't know his audience .... either your audience wants to read detailed reports of sleep studies and neuroscience or they need each of the senses listed out with the associated organ, but definitely not both. He gave his readers VERY little credit sometimes, going so far as to define non-sleep-related words for us. And I found some of his conclusions about the meaning of certain studies to be contradictory. And scientifically, I took issue with some of his conclusions based on the study design, at least as far as he had described it. In all, I'm glad that I read it because it was really informative, but really wish that he'd teamed up with an actual science writer instead of tackling this on his own.

An interesting read backed with empirical research. The author is very opinionated, long winded and repeatative.

Der Inhalt ist wichtig und interessant. Aber es zieht sich wie Kaugummi. Man könnte das Buch um die Hälfte kürzen, wenn man alle Wiederholungen und Phrasen wegließe.
Amazed at the stats, figures and stories in this book. And baffled that we force doctors and surgeons to stay awake for a crazy amount of hours, with such dangerous consequences. Public policy is missing a whole chunk of focus here. And as individuals, business owners, workers, partners, and parents especially, we should invest much more in quality sleep, for everyone's sake. Very useful and approachable read.

This book took me forever. Eventually I switched the audiobook and it was really my first audiobook. I’d listen while I was hiking which was really helpful. Throughout reading this I would tell people each thing I learned and regurgitate info from it. I definitely try to sleep well but it definitely impressed upon me the importance of it. But I also didnt feel like I loved the solitons given at the end and I do wish there was a way for me to better remember all of the facts I learned from this, I guess I should have taken notes (or slept better) lol.

Really enjoyed this although slightly terrified of not getting 8 hours of sleep! I really enjoyed the different research studies that have been done into how sleep impacts literally everything. Super insightful and feel like I have a different outlook on sleep now.
The sleep bible honestly. It explains theories on how sleep developed. The benefits of sleep on health, memory, learning, etc. The dangers of lack of sleep. And what we can do to get better sleep.
Honestly a must read if you're looking to improve your health, life, wellness in a holistic manner.

I think this book can be summarized in half the number of pages. It was informative but some info were redundant
