One of the most important books I've read, right up there with 嫌われる勇気 and Letting Go.
Upon further research I think some of the methods he purports to help with psychological healing may be hokey, but there are solid foundations for trauma and its healing here, some of which I've already used.

A few pages in I thought "oh, this was definitely written by a man"... Apart from that, when read with a curious and critical lens I think this book is phenomenal! Lots of good takeaways and interdisciplinary connections. It's not unlikely I revisit this one!

This book is a MUST read for anyone who works in therapy, schools, healthcare… but really just a must read for everyone. Because everyone has experienced some form of trauma, whether big or small, and comes in contact with traumatized people. Van see Kolks book is probably THE most important trauma book out there. It’s crucial to understand the impact trauma has on our bodies and how that impacts everything about us and how we function. Though it took me a while to get through this book, that is not due to lack of enjoyment. This book is dense and rich with information, and I wanted to soak in every word and take notes.

Way too much science and its just so dense that I couldn't get through it. I know it's informative but I can't sit there and read it, it feels like a textbook.

Really important read I think. It confirmed a suspicion I had that the word “trauma” is used a little too casually in modern parlance. Even if you aren’t a victim of trauma this book would be worth reading to understand the world from a new angle and even helped me with dealing with my own feelings and seeing how they present themselves in my body.
