This took a bit to get through, could have been shorter. I enjoyed the science pieces in it!

Provides useful tips to widen the window of tolerance, but Stanley does say some pretty fatphobic stuff.

I loved the first half of this book. The second half I felt was more a sales pitch for her trainings than anything else.
The first half though made this 4 stars in my opinion.

This book makes a lot of sense. I wish she'd offered a content warning before the assault visualization. The music playlist makes up for that oversight. Well done.

convoluted, weird focus upon "warrior traditions" and often feels too much like a sales pitch.
It's surprisingly long for the practical advise that it transfers, esp. when you're already introduced to mindful meditation and basic time-management. That reflection and awareness practices, a healthy diet, sleep, exercise and supportive relationships are good for you doesn't need 400+ pages to explain.
Given the convoluted writing style (I believe I know now more about the author's life than about stress recovery) and the shallowness of the advice, it's hard to recommend this book above others. Which sarcastically stresses me out as I care for the author after all her life's descriptions.

I’m so inspired by Elizabeth Stanley’s incredibly detailed research and particularly how she transformed her own experiences with trauma into something so helpful for others and for society. We need this book. Highly recommended.

Is this.... the Bible of how to handle daily stress & trauma?
Thank you for the frameworks, it's already been helping me tremendously, and I can feel the shifts it will allow in my mental and physical health.
From surviving to living!
