I just have four words: The chapters have titles!!

It has been so long since I've seen a book that title's each chapter so I just found this detail really cute. Aside from that though, the writing of this book was absolutely phenomenal. The imagery was so incredibly vivid that it felt like I was watching a movie instead of reading a book! I loved that the hero wasn't perfect, because it made her feel more relatable and real. There was never a dull moment and the ending left off on a perfectly satisfying cliffhanger.

I'm super excited to check out the rest of the books in this series and am incredibly thankful to Mandi Oyster for gifting me a copy <3

I was very intrigued and excited for this book - it seemed to have all the elements I usually love in a story! However, I (23 yr old) think it's definitely set for a younger audience. The characters themselves, though 18 and freshmen in college, felt more like "mean girl" freshmen in high school. And the narrative itself just felt geared for younger readers. I'm sure it's a great story, but it wasn't quite mature or stimulating enough for me.

“Magic… A Prophecy… And a Demon.”

This book was such a fun and quick read! For people who love the chosen one trope, Dacia Wolf and the Prophecy will be an absolute treat! It has everything you’d expect from the chosen one to the mentor to the big bad, but it manages to stand on its own. With a storyline that hooks you immediately and a glimpse at what’s to come, Dacia Wolf keeps you entertained the whole way through. I cant wait to see what’s to come for Dacia and her own gang of Scoobies!

Dacia Wolf and the Prophecy is the first book in the Dacia Wolf series. It is available in ebook, paperback, and hardcover format. It is also available through Kindle Unlimited.

I really wanted to love this book!

The first chapter excited me: The little girl who had powers and didn’t know, and was oblivious to the abnormality of it. Her parents didn't know, she didn't live on a society of wizards or wishes, just our regular human world, with no powers or real magic.

Unfortunately after that first chapter everything became none sensical and absurd; Lot of things happened just for the sake of "The plot" and not cause they serve any purpose to the story.

1) This characters (both heroes and villains) where mean to be college students, but they all behave like high school freshmen, and a sort of "MEAN GIRLS" dynamic,

2) Why every single “important” event of the book was a dream? every single important person for Dacia died at least once in this book, but don't worry! it turns out to be a dream EVERY SINGLE TIME. Dacia was meant to have "Premonition powers" which were well put in place the first time she tried to prevent a death, after the author apparently just gave up on the idea, and Dacia only dreamed of the death but was never presented with the opportunity to prevent it in real life. It really bothered me and through me off as a reader.

3) If Dacia is the only human with powers on the whole earth, why the "bad guys" cannot attacked her when she is with her best friend (aka boyfriend) why are they practically terrified of Dacias boyfriend if he is just another human? Like you have the chosen one, with the powers walking with a human and out of no where she is untouchable, but as soon as she is alone everyone can attacked her.

And more important why are they even attacking Dacia if they don't know she has powers? only because the "Mean girl" (who is in coma, and no one knows why) said so before she went on a coma? (None-sensical).

4. The whole plot of this book is "There is a prophecy about a demon who try to destroyed earth every 999 years, and a human born with powers to stop the demon" it has happen in the past, there are books written about it, magical artifacts and so on, but there is not a secret society training to help this "chosen one" or to find him/her and trained him/her to fulfill the prophecy; only one person happens to know about this and coincidentally she ended up been in the same place as the chosen one; even though Dacia was easily trackable based on the uncontrollable usage of her powers. why does the author tried to pull a Dumbledore (Harry potter) on me, if she is not willing to go to the full extend of it?

5. The magic system wasn’t clear and I honestly dislike books in which magic happens because it is convenient for the plot, and not because it makes sense. Dacia had and then do not had powers, just because of it. She had the diary of the previous "Chosen one" and she read it, but then start to develop powers that where not described, just because.

Ex. She controls the weather based on her moods, but halfway through the book it just stopped happening, she was scared, frustrated, angry, and the weather didn't flinch. And as a reader I'm just like "Why?"

Overall the book missed the mark for me. I’m sorry to say this but I am glad it is over!

Let me start by saying this was a fun read, which is strange to say when thinking about the potential end of the world and demons that stalk your nightmares.

That being said this is a great mix of a supernatural thriller mixed with a coming of age that I think just about anyone can relate to.

It's funny, heartwarming, and terrifying at times and I couldn't put it down from the time I picked it up.

Dacia is a complicated character and it shows in the decisions she makes, the things she might not notice right away, and the relationships she builds along the way.

There were a couple of little things that just didn't sit right for me or this would have been a five-star book.

I will be continuing with the series and can't wait to see what happens with Dacia, Cody, Sam, and Sarah.

Thank you to the Author for providing a copy of this book, I have voluntarily read and reviewed it and all thoughts and opinions are my own.

It was a breathtaking book, it made me look forward to bedtime snuggling, when I lay down and read a good story to relax from a stressful day and prepare myself for a good sleep. Those who know me know that I prefer cozy stories when I´m mentally exhausted.

This wasn´t a cozy romance, but the wholesome friendship / love relationship made it an enjoyable read. It was a well written story, and I´m looking forward to reading the rest of the book series to know what happens next.

4.5/5⭐️

I LOVE how character driven this story is and the first person narrative fit this perfectly. Dacia faces so much in her life and it was such an enjoyable experience to watch her grow into such a strong character. It is as though all the negative things that happen to her end up making her stronger.

Dacia is so protective over those she cares about and this brought so much emotion to the story. This enables the reader to view the other characters through Dacia’s eyes, which made me love them too!

I often find that when a story is character driven, the plot takes a back seat. However, this was not the case. I found the plot to be really enjoyable and I kept wanting to turn the page (I read it within a day!).

Overall, this was a great read which is perfect for lovers of YA Fantasy!
adventurous fast-paced

At the beginning of the book, the story is described as a "magical coming of age fantasy novel" and I couldn't summarize it better myself. This story had all the elements you expect from the genre: friendships, discovering who you are, good versus evil, prophecies. The writing was fluent and the characters were interesting. In general, I felt like the story came across as a bit younger than I would have expected, with the main character being in college. Nevertheless, this did not prevent me from having a good time and to be drawn into the story (to be fair, the first scene even spooked me out a bit…I am terrified of fire). If you are looking to discover an exciting new YA fantasy series by an indie author, you might want to check this one out!

I received this copy as an ARC review and will be reviewing with my own personal opinions.

The beginning started out strong but than I felt like in some parts it was rushed and cut to the chase. The story is about 18 year old Dacia who starts college along side her guy best friend Cody where she learns about a prophecy and has to learn how to control her powers.

I felt like while reading the book it was written in a style that was more inclined to younger readers.

In the story, the characters are 18 and starting college. I feel like the dialogue was short and it cut to chase rather quickly. The scene where Cody asks Dacia to be his girlfriend felt immature as it felt like they were 13/14 not 18 . It just seemed very young. You also have bullies which Cassandra and her crew gave me middle school mean girl vibes.

With that being said, I see lots of potential with the series and would love to read more of the growth of the characters and where their journey takes them.
adventurous dark emotional inspiring mysterious tense fast-paced

Dacia (day-sha) is a new college student who is looking for a fresh start. Her high school peers considered her weird because strange occurrences happened around her. Her best friend and protector, Cody, is also going to the same college and urges Dacia to make some new friends. It doesn’t take long for Dacia to make enemies and her strange powers become apparent to those around her. Can Dacia, Cody, and Dacia’s roommate, Sam, navigate these new college troubles?

Generally, I enjoyed this story. It was a solid YA and introduction to Dacia and her friends. I appreciated the portrayal of Dacia’s general anxiety and panic attacks surrounding her magic and dreams. I feel like any YA reader will be able to relate to Dacia in this way with anxieties of their own. The plot focuses a lot on calming Dacia from her anxiety and using the calm to think clearly and overcome her obstacles. I do feel like the lore behind Dacia’s powers and the villain, Nefarious, could have been built out a bit more (maybe it’s further along in the series). Some of the leaps of logic felt a little disjointed, but it may be something that a YA reader could gloss over. Cody’s speech patterns were a little hard for me to follow sometimes, but that could also just be the author trying to catch the dialect of that area (another me problem). Despite these very minor things for me, the plot and pace moved along quickly and held my attention the whole time. The villain was super creepy and evil, and it was a great intro to spooky season for me.
