I haven't read the Iron Fey series so I was kind of confused at the beginning of the book but I have to say that the author explains everything you need to know and I found it easy to understand. I do think that you need to read the other books to feel more attached to some characters, but either way I enjoyed all of them.

Like Nyx I don’t know the reputation of Robin Goodfellow, I just know Puck. In this book we see him struggle with his old self, that fey everyone was afraid of, and who he has become, a person who has left behind all the things that made him bad. I was really suffering reading about his inner struggle of not knowing who you are anymore. And I liked the message this book transmits and how the author portrays it. The author did this so well I felt everything.

I really like the world but I have to say that this book felt more like an introduction that a story itself, it’s fast paced with a lot of action but I feel it kind of dragged out a little bit, in my opinion. Also the end was kind of predictable but I also found it made sense because it goes really well with the storyline of Puck's inner struggles.

I'm already declaring my love for Nyx, she's my favorite and a red cap. I can't wait to see more of the world and the characters, specially her. The second book promises to be way better because omg that cliffhanger.

It's been years since my last Iron Fey book...so, when I saw this newish series, I one clicked, give me some Prince Ash, and I am all set.

The story is very similar to the other books, I mean, there is a lot of action, fights, and adventures within the main quest.

This story is told by Puck, I liked his flashbacks and how the author threaded both the infamous one and the Puck we got to know and love on this series.

I am starting the next one straight away, first because of the cliffhanger, and second because it is told by Ash himself!

I do not recommend this book unless you are twelve years old.

It was a slow moving character driven story told in the first person point of view.
Unfortunately the main character, Puck, was really hard to connect with. He was filled with arrogant modern day cliched sayings. Not the kind of a Puck retelling I was looking for.

I think this would click more with a middle grade kid.

Not my jam. Will not be reading book two.
I basically skimmed the big battle in the last 35 pages because I was over it.
I just did not want to listen to this Puck anymore.

Still a beautiful cover lol.

I really really enjoyed this, especially the audiobook, however I really wish I'd realised more than halfway through that this was technically the 8th book in the overall series as well as the first in this one as it has now spoiled a few things for me if I now go back and read the rest.

⭐️3 stars⭐️

My best laid plans always seem to backfire on me, so better not to have any to begin with.

“I always make a great first impression, Stacilla. Not always a good one, but it’s definitely memorable.”

The Iron Raven is the first book in the Iron Fey spin off series, Evenfall. This story follows Puck as he joins new friends and old to battle a new threat facing the Nevernever.

I love Puck and enjoyed getting the chance to learn more about him and his time as Robin Goodfellow. It was entertaining to learn about some of his vast history. I also really enjoy Kagawa’s overall writing style. I don’t think I’ve read a book by Kagawa that I didn’t enjoy. Nyx was an interesting add to the character mix and seemed to be a great balance to Puck. I’m so glad Grimalkin made a reappearance — he is by far my favorite character from the Iron Fey series. He always has the best commentary.

My disappointment with this novel was that I wanted more out of Robin Goodfellow. He was touted as a big villain, so I was expecting more from him.

I recently read The Iron Fey series, so the books were fresh in my mind before reading this! With that being said, you don't need to read them first, because The Iron Raven is a spin off of the series (I highly recommend it though!).

This book was extremely well paced and exciting, and I didn't actually put it down until I had finished it. Puck's point of view was great, but NYX was the real gem in this book. Nyx is a new character we are introduced to, and okay hello, officially my new favourite badass assassin.

As with all of Julie Kagawa's books, the writing is just gorgeous to read, very descriptive and emotion-provoking. Highly recommend this book to any and all fantasy lovers, and readers in need of some serious Iron Fey nostalgia!
