The content itself is at least interesting and if I walk away with a few helpful tips from self-help books, I consider it a success. It's just that the audiobook quality is so terrible, it sounds like she recorded it in her house and people would walk by occasionally. Read the book, skip the audio entirely.
This is wonderful and I love the author. Very accessible and down to earth. I highly recommend it for folks struggling with trauma, anxiety, or depression.

I liked the explanations that used science backed research. The tone is a little cheesy (typical for self help) and the cursing isnt really necessary but i understand why its used. I resonated pretty deeply with a few quotes and feel more confident in having power over my own brain.
I don’t remember finishing this, but audible says I did so I think that says all I need to say as far as a review
One of the better and more concise self-help books I have read

I’d like to start by saying I love self help books. If I can better myself and have a better understanding of my handle on my own trauma, so that I can be a better version of myself for not just me - but my friends, partner, family etc - I will happily check out a book that can benefit me in that way. However. This book was written in a “quirky” way. I’m down for swearing, it’s in the title. I get it. I felt like I was reading a frat guys journal who had just had an epiphany and couldn’t stop talking. There are some points where it is fairly informative but I made it halfway through this book (audiobook) and could not finish it. There’s better books out there - like The Myth of Normal by Gabor Maté.
It was such a short and quick read, but full of evidence-based info that helped me understand my own brain better and gain a deep understanding of mental health struggles overall. I am usually very sceptical of self help books and this title sounded gimmicky, bit I really think this is a book that can make you a better person. It also has advice on how to support loved ones with mental health struggles, which I think is such an important life skill to have.
