This was a good read. Recently, I;ve preferred Morton books where the humour is toned down, which is the case here. It makes it easier for me to connect with her characters, especially since her humour doesn't always work for me.

I know a fair amount about Pip because of the Model Clinic stuff in Morton's newsletter. And he was in the last book. That said, it was really in this book that we got to know him beyond the snark and horny comments. I really liked him. He's such a caring person and so genuine. Beyond a shocking bout of obliviousness in the final third, he was my favourite character. I liked Olivier too, just not as much. I liked that we saw Mal and Jonas, and the new version of Dean who barely resembles his original self (it only bothers me a little).

The story was cute and I enjoyed it a lot. The book is longer-than-average for Morton, but it didn't feel long. And I would definitely recommend checking it out.

Fun piece of escapism

Camp, sassy romance set in the glitz and glamour of the south of France. Enjoyable read, though very similar to a previous book I have read from this author, who seems to write to a formula.

I gotta say that I enjoyed this ALOT!!!

5 stars all around!

Joel Leslie is an amazing narrator when it comes to contemporary stories (I don't have the same experience with his narrations in paranormal/fantasy ones) and he was fantastic here.

Although I was taken aback by the way the word "migraine" was pronounced. I always say it as "maɪ-" (as in eye) and not "mee-" (as in do re mi). Oh well being bilingual in English means that my English is an amalgamation monstrosity of British and American English.

Back to the story, I truthfully enjoyed Pip's vividness and along with Olivier's wonderment and wickedness this was a beautiful romance!

Everything written below for when I read the book continue to apply here with the added bonus of a gifted narrator!!

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

4.5 stars rounding down.

Wonderful MCs, lots of snark and banter balanced perfectly with everyday little moments of happiness and contentment, beautiful imagery of the South of France, lovely side characters and cameos of favorites, hints of pairings to come and a romance for the ages with 2 MCs that had incredible chemistry and complemented each other in the best of ways!!!

Really this was a lovely, contemporary romance, everything you expect from Lily!

French Fancy by Lily Morton is a beautiful romance set mostly in the South of France. Pip is recovering from scarlet fever and pneumonia and he's still very weak. His boss, in London, sends him to the villa he owns with his brother to rest and heal. The brother, Olivier, shows up st the villa. The two meet and wind up spending time together, seeing the sites, and getting to know one another.
It is beautifully written. Gorgeous descriptions make the reader feel like they are there. The characters are flawed and multidimensional.
I was swept away to Paris, London, and the South of France. Olivier is a perfume magnate and throughout the book, scents are described in such detail that I could almost smell them myself. The intimate scenes are hot. The romantic scenes are charming. And the banter is cute. Both men are larger than life and had me laughing often. They also have some trauma in their lives that gives them depth. It's a lovely book. I highly recommend it.
Romance - ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

This was a good book, and I liked Pip & Olivier. I enjoyed the storyline as well, and the fact that it can be read as a standalone even though it's the 2nd book in the series. I had a little trouble fully connecting with the characters, and the book, in general, just didn't stand out for me. I didn't dislike it, but it's not my favorite book by this author.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily gave my honest review.
