Mmmm, I didn't love it, but it wasn't bad. I think there were just lots of little odds and ends that didn't really work for me.

Firstly, I thought the drama was really overdramatic / over-done. We never really got any real justification for why she needed a bodyguard. She didn't seem to have any stalkers. She had a car accident, so I get needing a driver for awhile - I was in a horrific car accident, and I had to be sedated to even get in the car when I was finally released from the hospital - but I don't get why it seemed like she was ... crowd-phobic? Maybe? I don't know. It isn't that I'm unsympathetic, I just honestly didn't understand her issue.

And his issue also seemed overly melodramatic. I mean, I get him having baggage, I really do. But I don't get his reaction with his family - again, literally do not understand how A led to B here, in his head - and I feel like he just overall became a fucking coward about life, to a ludicrous degree. I mean, I get being rattled. I get being gunshy. I get not having a lot of faith in people, and I get the heartbreak. But where he takes that ... I just don't get it.

Lastly, I'm just never a fan of unequal relationships, where one person does all the work to get into this relationship. And honestly, Lydia did all the work here, and just took CONTINUOUS shit from him. I don't think he did enough, in the end, to put them on equal footing. She was ready to take him back the literal second she saw him, without him even saying a word. And meh to that, seriously. Lydia is a great character, really smart and focused and compassionate ... and I feel like she deserves someone who wants her as much as she wants him. And I don't feel like this landed that way.

**This book was given to me by Smuthood Reviews in exchange for an honest review**

"Some people don't want to risk another injury, I guess."

Erik Wilder didn't plan on becoming Lydia Pierson's bodyguard, but when Luke Pierson asks him to help get his daughter out of the rut she's been in for two months after a car accident, Erik can't say no. Erik assumes Lydia is like any other Instagram Influencer he's met--vapid, vain, and shallower than a shower--but he's never been more wrong. Tasked with driving her to and from errands and events, he can't help but notice how she's slowly gotten under his skin--and that terrifies him.

Lydia Pierson didn't plan on turning into a hermit after she got into a car accident, but the fear of driving keeps her firmly in her old bedroom at her parents' house, hiding from the world. When her father introduces her to Erik as essentially a glorified babysitter, she can't believe it. He's too grumpy, he's too quiet and way too tall. They're practically oil and water. But, the more time she spends with him, she sees that underneath his surly, cranky attitude, he's hurting from something. Even though they spend more time fighting than talking, maybe she can help him to heal from his old wounds and look forward to the future.

First of all, I absolutely love [a:Karla Sorensen|13563232|Karla Sorensen|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1497639455p2/13563232.jpg], and getting to return to the world of the Washington Wolves was absolutely fantastic. I'm a sucker for a good fake-dating trope, as well as a Grump/Sunshine relationship, and The Plan has both of these (as well as a great age gap relationship--another one of my favorites). I can't get over how much I loved this book. Lydia and Erik's chemistry was electric and absolutely jumped off the page. I genuinely have no complaints or wish anything was different (other than I wish it was longer)! I'll absolutely be reading more of Karla Sorensen's books, and can't wait to revisit the men of the Washington Wolves football team!

Plans change...

But they say fate is written in the stars.

Sorensen gives us more Wolves and more of our beloved Pierson family. The Plan is Lydia's ever after. Our little girl is all grown up!!!

Whether you love the Wolves, wear their team apparel while reading, or just stumbled on them, you will fall hard and fast for this silent hulk and his sunshine-y charge. You'll fret, worry, and break right along side them.

Plan for the worst because Sorensen has brought out her best. I hope we never ever run out of Wolves and Wolves adjacent characters to love!!!

I love an age gap romance and I love a grumpy hero, so this book did a double duty for me. It was a good story with a strong heroine, though only 22, she knew her mind and had her sh*t together more than the hero. The hero was pretty good, though nothing really special, but the family football game scene was amazing, I loved how she bested him there and how he accepted defeat graciously.
One thing lacking in this book was steam. The author didn’t, and really hasn’t ever that I’ve read, write good sex scenes. It might just be a taste thing but her descriptions are too poetic for me. I get annoyed by the prose when I really just want dirty details. Don’t tell me she ‘melted into him’ tell me she came hard. I’d love for this author to crank up the smut in her love scenes, it’s 2022 not 1940, I expect much more heat in a contemporary romance unless you are specifically trying to keep it clean.
That being said, this was a great story with a satisfying ending that fit the age of the heroine (Ie she didn’t immediately get pregged up and have his babies).

This was a new-to-me author, and I am so glad I had the chance to discover her book. It was fast-paced and drew me right in from the beginning. The storyline with the grumpy Erik as a bodyguard and the sunshine stubbornness of Lydia was perfect. They made the perfect couple and their attraction sizzled from the beginning. I loved watching them grow as their relationship grew. Erik was able to figure out what he wanted for his future and reunite with his family while Lydia realized she wanted more out of life than being in the media spotlight. This was a great book and I recommend it to anyone who likes sports romance. I enjoyed meeting all the Washington Wolves teammates and friends and look forward to seeing them again in future books.
I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Noting better than when opposites attract and once again Karla Sorensen brings her readers a storyline and characters that will never be forgotten. Each and every time Lydia and Erik interacted it was an awesome pull and pull and the tension goes from hatred to pure lust. The family interactions and the true sense of togetherness is one the reader will truly enjoy and the chemistry and spark make the chapters fly by. This is a book you will read from beginning to end without putting it down.
